Ford Readies Powerful Fiesta ST200 For Geneva Motor Show
Ford will be showing off its most powerful Fiesta to-date at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show – the Fiesta ST200. As the number implies, it’s almost 200hp when rounded up. To be exact, the Ford Fiesta ST200 gets 197bhp and 290Nm of torque, an increase of 18bhp and 50Nm over the Fiesta ST which shares the same 1.6L EcoBoost turbocharged engine.
Power output goes up to 212bhp and 320Nm for up to 15 seconds by using the transient overboost. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, like the Fiesta ST, but with a shorter final drive. As a result of these tweaks, it betters the ST by 0.2 seconds in the 0-100 km/h sprint with a time of 6.7 seconds. Top speed is reported at 230 km/h, a 10 km/h increase over the ST.
Other enhancements include a reworked Torque Vectoring Control system, 3-mode electronic stability control, stiffer and lower suspension, quicker steering rack, bigger rear disc brakes and modified front steering knuckle and rear twist beam.
The Fiesta ST200 comes with an exclusive Storm Grey paint job, 17″ matte black alloy wheels and red brake calipers. Inside, the car gets Recaro front seats in charcoal with silver stitching.
The car goes on sale middle of this year in other markets so we’ll just have to wait and see if we get to see it in Malaysia.
