Perodua has contributed 4 units of its Axia mini car to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for use as community patrol vehicles, part of the police force’s efforts in combating crime.

“The 4 units are the first Perodua Axia models to be used by the police force in their efforts to keep communities safe,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.

The 4 Axias were handed over by Dr Zahari Husin, Managing Director of Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd to Inspector-General of Police YDH Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid Abu Bakar at Bukit Aman.

“We hope that our contribution, which we wish to call ‘community patrol cars’ will assist our dedicated police officers while on duty,” Aminar added. “The Perodua Axia is Malaysia’s first Energy Efficient Vehicle (21.6km/l) and it is an ideal patrol car as it is made for easy driving, handling and maneuvering in high traffic areas”.

PDRM will allocate one Axia each to the Brickfields and Taman Tun Dr Ismail police stations while the remaining 2 units will be utilized by AMANITA, a special task force created by the force to fight crime by engaging the community in general, and housewives in particular. A female inspector has been assigned as a “peace lady” liaison to engage communities to uncover and solve unreported crimes.

PDRM has deployed over 670 Perodua vehicles in various capacities since 1995.

“Aside from the protection of the police force, we hope that everyone stays safe during the long Chinese New Year holidays, especially on the roads when journeying to see their families and loved ones. We at Perodua wish our Chinese friends Gong Xi Fa Cai!,” added Aminar.
