UMW Toyota will launch Hilux, Alphard and Vellfire
Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd announced late last week that the company will be introducing the new Hilux pickup as well as Alphard and Vellfire MPVs in 2016.
The new version of the most popular pickup in Malaysia is expected to be launched in the second quarter of this year.
In the meantime, the new Toyota Alphard and Vellfires will be introduced in the third quarter of 2016. These MPVs, which are so popular as parallel import models here, will come with official warranties and comprehensive aftersales support of service and spare parts. These MPVs will also be tuned according to our climate, fuel quality and road conditions. Parallel import vehicles are tuned for their specific countries hence there will be a difference in performance.
At the same time, UMW Toyota is cautiously optimistic of 2016. Datuk Ismet said the company has set a sales target of 87,000 units, of which 85,000 is expected from Toyota and 2,000 from Lexus. This is below the sales numbers for 2015. UMW Toyota is looking to launch other models in 2016 and will announce them in due course.
