Special-edition Isuzu D-Max Diablo launched
Pick-up trucks endure typically long model cycles, and it is therefore very long waits between facelifts and full model changes. For a company like Isuzu which only has the D-Max to offer private buyers, this presents a challenge for its marketing team continuously create initiatives to stir interest for the brand.
Since the current-generation D-Max was launched in 2013, we’ve seen a staggered roll out of its variants with the utilitarian single cab and 3.0-litre models following at later stages. In between were a number of decked-up special editions all conceptualized with the express purpose of sustaining market interest in the product.
The latest special edition D-Max comes in the form of the D-Max Diablo, available in both 2.5- and 3.0-litre displacements, but exclusively with automatic transmission and 4×4. As with the regular D-Max, the 2.5-litre model is locally-assembled whilst the 3.0-litre is fully-imported from Thailand. Accessories of the package, other than its factory-fitted daytime running lights, are installed at PDI level.
Available only in Cosmic Black Mica body colour, exterior trim items such as the front grille, door handles, mirrors, roof rails, and rear bumper that are otherwise chromed on the regular D-Max are now coated in black or dark grey finishing. The chromed Isuzu logo on the front grille and silver front bumper guard contrasts the overall dark finishing.
Exclusive body decals adorn the flanks, and the regular 17-inch alloy wheels are replaced with Lenso Beastly Black rims of the same size. The cargo bed is covered by a lockable D-Loc lid finished in body colour and complemented by a rear aero spoiler. New design tail lights, featuring a revised arrangement of LEDs, debut in this variant, and will be progressively introduced into the regular models.
Interior fittings of the dark grey cabin include piano black trim inserts, specially-embroidered carpet mats, illuminated side sill plates, and Red Premium Italian leather upholstery. A Blaupunkt multimedia system with reverse camera integration completes the accessory package.
The special edition D-Max Diablo is priced at RM110,189.60 with insurance for the 2.5-litre 4×4 automatic model and RM116,959.90 for the 3.0-litre 4×4 automatic. The base versions of these two models go for RM100,689.60 and 107,459.90 respectively.
