Five concepts to make KLIMS13 appearance
The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 (KLIMS13) is less than a month away, and ticket sales are reported to be brisk since online purchasing commenced at www.klims.com.my and www.airasiaredtix.com. Organized by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) and managed by Interexpo (M) Sdn Bhd, KLIMS13 will open at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) from 15 to 24 November 2013.
Unlike more prestigious shows like Frankfurt, Paris, or even Shanghai and Beijing, the KL International Motor Show rarely ever witness the global debut of any vehicle or concept. Most participating manufacturers will nevertheless take the opportunity to use the motor show as a platform to launch new models for the Malaysian market.
In a development that shocked the industry, national car maker Proton will not be participating in KLIMS13, leaving Perodua to shoulder the burden of being the sole Malaysian car maker represented in on home turf. They will be joined on the exhibition floor by Citroen, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Lexus, Nissan, Peugeot, Toyota, Subaru and Volkswagen. MAA has further confirmed that a total of five concept cars will be making appearances at KLIMS13.
Ford had earlier confirmed plans to unveil a new model at the motor show and alongside its full line-up of global ‘One Ford’ vehicles will be the iconic Mustang and Model A pick-up. Nissan will be showcasing the Leaf EV, and Volkswagen will have 1,100m2 of floor space to showcase its huge portfolio of new models and technologies.
Datuk Aishah Ahmad, President of MAA said “We are encouraging exhibitors to unveil their most exciting cars and product displays for KLIMS13 visitors. We hope KLIMS13 will give visitors a thrilling visual fest and up-close encounters with the latest car models and eye opening concept cars, as well as great photo opportunities with the displays.”
Other show attractions include parts and accessories exhibitors such as Groovy Shades custom fit sun shade, Osram’s Night Breaker Unlimited, 3M Paint Defender Spray Film from Allfix, and the Ultra Racing strut bar and sway bar. Commercial vehicles will also feature. HSJBC Corporation will be launching JBC trucks, HSZNA Vehicles will be launching the ZNA Success, Hong Seng Motor will be launching the DFSK trucks, and Daihatsu Malaysia is showcasing the Gran Max Panel Van and the Mobile Café Van.
MAA has announced two grand prizes for the visitors’ lucky draw, namely the Toyota Prius 1.8L Luxury and the Honda CR-Z. In addition to that, Volkswagen will be sponsoring a Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 TSI for Maybank customers visiting KLIMS13. All visitors who purchase adult and family package KLIMS13 tickets will be entitled to join the lucky draws.
