2.4-litre variant of Honda CR-V launched

As things stand, the Honda CR-V with its 2.0-litre engine is already the best-selling mid-sized crossover SUV in Malaysia, with over 6,100 bookings received for the latest model since its launch in March this year; numbers which already account for 87% of the 7,000-unit sales target that Honda Malaysia had set during the CR-V’s launch.

Malaysians have only ever known the CR-V to be powered by 2.0-litre engines. There has been growing demand for added power for some time now, and Honda finally sees it fit to offer Malaysians the option of a 2.4-litre engine to power the CR-V. Shared with the Accord, the K24 twin-cam lump generates a class-leading 187hp @ 7,000rpm and 222Nm @ 4,400rpm.

These figures are a huge leap from the 2.0-litre model, which makes do with 153hp and 190Nm. Like the 2.0-litre model, the new CR-V 2.4 is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard. Paddle shifters, unavailable in the 2.0, have been added for manual overriding of the transmission.

Additional features in the CR-V 2.4 include auto-leveling HID headlamps with light sensors, auto-wipers, 18-inch alloy rims, chrome door handles, 8-way electric driver seat adjustment, leather seats, keyless entry, engine start button, curtain airbags, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 6.1″ multimedia touchscreen with GPS function.

Features maintained from 2.0-litre model, meanwhile, include 60:40 split one-touch folding rear seats, reverse camera, rear air-con vents, dual frontal and side airbags, ABS, EBD, VSA, traction control, and Hill Start Assist.

The CR-V 2.4 is available in five colours, namely Twilight Blue Metallic, Taffeta White, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and a new colour called Modern Steel Metallic. Priced at RM169,800.00 with insurance, the CR-V 2.4 is ready for immediate viewing and booking at all Honda

Like most of its more recent models, Honda offers the CR-V with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty. Service intervals are stretched to 10,000km, and owners are entitled to six free labour services alternating with fully paid services.
