MINI One returns with third shipment
BMW Group Malaysia has thus far brought in a grand total of 61 MINI Ones into our shores, imported in two separate shipments. Both times, the cars were immediately sold out, proving their popularity beyond doubt. If you were one of those ready to whip out your chequebooks but was too late to the MINI dealership, here comes another chance for you to get your hands on the MINI at its simplest best.
A media statement released by BMW Group Malaysia this week announced the MINI One’s second return. There was no mention of units being limited this time, although it is still being described as an ‘exclusive’ model. It will most certainly be affordable, with an OTR price of RM146,888 before insurance.
Introducing the new MINI, Dr. Gerhard Pils, Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group Malaysia said, “MINI has always been a symbol of urban driving fun. Its indispensable element of excitement promised in each model combined with its agile ‘go-kart’ handling and its most natural characteristic with cutting-edge efficiency have led to a very successful MINI story to date. From the very beginning, the MINI One’s success story has always been linked with cheekiness and performance; and the new MINI One has all this and more!”
As before, the MINI One derives power from a naturally aspirated version of the 1.6-litre Prince engine tuned modestly in this application to produce 98hp and 150Nm. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the MINI One’s rated consumption and emission figures stand at 6.7 l/100km and 156 g/km respectively.
Painted in a choice of two colours, Chilli Red and Pepper White, the MINI One comes standard with 15″ alloy rims, steering-mounted controls, auto wipers, auto headlights, Bluetooth handsfree, and USB connectivity.
For added peace of mind, customers are offered the MINI Tender Loving Care (TLC) package as a RM4,088 optional upgrade. The package covers routine maintenance, and wear and tear items for 3 years or 50,000km, whichever comes first.
