Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd has just published an announcement toasting the success of its new Hyundai MD Elantra, which has thus far accumulated 5,000 bookings since its launch in April, with some 1,570 units currently residing in various Malaysian homes.

The MD Elantra’s success builds on the momentum built by the well-received Tucson and Sonata that were both launched in 2010. HSDM markets the Elantra in three trim levels – Standard, High Spec, and Premium – priced between RM86,888 and RM111,888.

The Premium model is available exclusively with the 1.8-litre Nu engine with automatic transmission, whilst the two lower-spec variants are powered by the familiar 1.6-litre Gamma engine from the i30. The Standard model comes with the option of manual or automatic transmission, whilst the 1.6 High Spec is an auto only offering.

“The MD Elantra speaks of the success of Hyundai’s bold design and great fuel economy. The MD Elantra is what everyone wants of a car. Dynamic compact design, premium touch, high fuel efficiency, spaciousness, and low maintenance cost with an exceptionally accessible pricing,” said Mr Lau Yit Mun, the Managing Director of HSDM.
