RENAULT LAUNCHES TWO NEW MODELS
June 7th 2012, Petaling Jaya – Renault has topped up its product range with two new models – a fresh Koleos and the very exciting Clio RS “Ange & Demon”. The two models will appeal to two different market segments – the Koleos is a 4 x 4 cross-over vehicle whilst the Clio RS is a hot hatch targeted at drivers with a lust for spirited driving.
Renault Koleos – Comfort, quality & technology in an elegant package
The new Renault Koleos is an evolution of Renault’s original cross-over launched in 2010, with a new front end, and a re-styled interior. Under the hood, the new Renault Koleos is powered by a 170 horsepower, 2.5 litre power plant and drive is to all 4 wheels via a 6-speed CVT gearbox – fuel consumption is rated at 9.5 litres/100 kilometres.
Despite its higher ground clearance, the new Koleos is claimed to handle more like a saloon car, but with additional safety as a result of all-wheel drive. Front suspension is MacPherson Struts with a multi-link arrangement at the rear. While most cross-over offerings are rarely capable of going off the beaten track, the new Renault Koleos boasts real off-road ability. Ground clearance is a generous 206mm and approach and departure angles are 27 and 31 degrees respectively. The all-wheel drive transmission has three ‘drive’ modes that can be selected by the driver, Auto, LOCK or 2WD, to suit any driving situations.
In terms of safety features, the Renault Koleos is also at the forefront of safety technology with six airbags, seat belts with load limiters for the front and the outer rear seats and ISOFIX anchorage points in rear. ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and emergency brake assist are standard features, as well as a smart all-wheel drive system that adjusts the front and rear torque split at the first sign of understeer or oversteer. Combined with the latest developments in safety cell technology and crash structure design, the new Renault Koleos has been given a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
Renault Clio RS – The ultimate hot hatch
Renault customers looking for the ultimate expression of the hot hatchback genre need look no further than the Renault Clio R.S. “Ange & Demon”. Previewed earlier in 2012 by the Renault Clio R.S. 200 Cup, the “Ange & Demon” is a limited edition version of Renault’s B-segment performance hatch with only 666 units being sold worldwide. Each car will come with a numbered plaque signifying the unit number in the production.
Mechanically, the Renault Clio R.S. is identical to the Clio R.S. 200 Cup, with a 203hp 2.0-litre normally aspirated engine that delivers 215Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The Cup Chassis brings stiffer dampers over the standard Clio R.S. as well as a lower ride height and Brembo four-pot brake calipers painted in red.
Specific to the Clio R.S. “Ange & Demon”, all units come with a gloss black finish for the roof, upper tailgate, and rear spoiler, and rear diffuser, F1-style blade in the front bumper, door handles and door mirrors. The car is available in a matte paint finish dubbed ‘Matt Hologram Grey’ making it the only car available in Malaysia with a matte finish offered as standard. Black 17 inch Speedline alloy wheels add a nice exterior touch.
The interior of the Clio R.S. “Ange & Demon” is also given specific equipment such as leather wrapped Recaro seats and a metal gear shift lever. The highlight of the interior is the Renault Sports’ on-board telemetry system; the R.S. Monitor. Previously only available on the Renault Megane R.S. 250 Cup, the system is able to display lap times, acceleration times, has a g-meter as well as real time engine performance figures.

The new Renault Koleos and Renault Clio R.S. “Ange & Demon” will be retailed at RM 223,810.70 and RM199,426.80 respectively. The prices are on the road excluding insurance but are inclusive of a 3 year warranty.
