Lamborghini Gallardo Malaysia Limited Edition (MLE) launched
Lamborghini today unveiled a rather unique special edition of the Gallardo designed and made exclusively for Malaysia’s rich and famous. Limited to an exclusive set of 20 units, the Lamborghini Gallardo Malaysia Limited Edition is the result of a year-long collaboration between the local distributors and its Italian principals taking into account various feedback from Malaysian buyers.
The result is a Gallardo catered to Malaysian tastes and exclusive to the Malaysian market. It takes the mechanical package of the rear-driven Gallardo LP550-2 and glosses it with trim bits of the top-spec Superleggera LP570-4. This follows the Malaysian-preferred formula of picking the base powertrain setup and spec it up with the full gamut of bells and whistles.
Unlike your typical limited or special edition cars, Lamborghini does not shout the unique status of this car with glaring stickers or badges. The MLE have three subtle markings – on the front spoiler, rear bumper, and a little plate stamped near the base of the driver side B-pillar.
Its combination of specs are unique. Despite the vast array of customization possibilities offered by Lamborghini, the factory does not entertain requests to have standard Gallardos dressed up in Superleggera body trim. The MLE gets the Superleggera’s front bumper, carbon side skirts, titanium exhaust tips, and carbon fibre rear diffuser.
Inside, its bespoke interior withdraws from the hardedged Superleggera and goes back to the creature comforts offered by the standard Gallardo. Material choice is an exclusive combination of smooth leather and alcantara. Lamborghini took particular care to spec the MLE with standard rather than bucket seats for better comfort.
The Gallardo MLE is offered with a choice of three colours – Bianco Monocerus (solid white), Verde Ithaca (pearl green), and Arancio Borealis (pearl orange). It is priced at RM868,000, but duties and taxes put it at RM1,680,000 on-the-road before insurance. All cars come with a 3 year factory warranty.
