Toyota Classics 2011 proceeds benefit three charities
The 20th Toyota Classics performance, which took place on 10 November this year featuring the Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra in Kuala Lumpur, successfully raised RM318,500 in proceeds, all of which have been donated to charity. A small presentation ceremony was held earlier today with mock cheques handed to representatives from three charities.
“Since the inception, we have supported 47 charitable and non-governmental organizations nationwide amounting to over RM6 million until 2010. We are glad to see how our contributions have made a difference to the lives of the people in the organizations we have supported,” says En Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor.
Benefactors of this year’s proceeds are the MAA-Medicare Kidney Charity Fund, who will be acquiring three dialysis machines; the Society of the Orthopaedically Handicapped, Malaysia will be replacing its 15 year old van; and the Persatuan Daybreak vocational centre for disable people will use the money to improve the safety and working environment of its facility.
The Toyota Classics is part of three social pillars of UMW Toyota’s CSR initiatives. The other two pillars are Environmental programmes for secondary school students, and road safety campaigns for pre-schoolers.
