Perodua replaces 13 fire-damaged customer cars

Thirteen Perodua customers recently had their registered but undelivered cars destroyed in a stockyard fire at Puchong on 28 February 2011 which cost an estimated RM 2 million of damages. The affected customers had bought 4 units of the Alza, 3 units of the Viva and 6 units of the Myvi from Perodua dealer Rangka Raya Sdn Bhd.

Twelve of the thirteen customers have received their replacement vehicles from Perodua last week, and the last remaining customer will pick his car up at the end of the month. Total damages of that fire is estimated at RM 2 million, covered by insurance, with the 13 replacement cars accounting for RM660k.

“We would like to thank all the 13 customers for choosing Perodua and for their patience while waiting for their replacement vehicles,” said Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh, Managing Director of Perodua.

“To prevent the incident from recurring, our dealer has made contingency plans to park all their stock cars in the open space and installed preventive measures and system,” he added.

A total of 53 cars were parked at the stockyard during the fire. Rangka Raya personnel were able to save 16 of the cars, but could do nothing about the remaining 37.

As a token of appreciation, Perodua gave each of the affected customers a Touch ‘n Go reload card worth RM100 while Rangka Raya chipped in RM50 worth of petrol for each car as well.
