Customers get motorsport taste in Michelin Pilot Experience 2010
Some 400 participants were given a motorsports treat recently at the Michelin Pilot Experience (MPE) held at the Sepang International Circuit. Featuring the participation of Michelin customers, dealers, and even journalists from across Asia Pacific, the MPE gave them a wide range of motorsport-related activities in this annual brand-building exercise.
“Michelin has been around for generations and as a pioneer brand in advanced tyre technology we are constantly looking for ways to share with our customers the best driving experience capable,” said Michelin Malaysia Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Yves Pouliquen.
“The MPE allows ordinary drivers to experience driving performance cars under the watchful eyes of experienced driving instructors. Speed is not the objective but how to experience handling a fast car, carefully and within their respective capabilities,” he added.
One of many notable highlights of the event was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for participants to get behind the wheel of a Formula Michelin single-seater race car capable of speeds up to 260kph. A safety briefing by professional instructors was mandatory for all participants before they were let loose on the track.
As Mr Lim Choon Yow puts it, “The drive in the Formula Michelin car was so smooth and the handling was great! It’s no wonder they are leaders in advanced tyre technology! More importantly, I learnt how to drive better with expert advise.”
Other attractions of the day included racing simulators, an interactive quiz, a Go-Kart race, a ‘Pit Stop Challenge’ and a GT5 car driving experience. Also provided were taxi rides around the track in first a two-seater Formula 2 car and then a Porsche Carrera Cup race car.
“The whole experience was exhilarating! The G-force speed and action-packed activities organized satiated my constant hunger and passion for racing,” said Mr Tan Chua Lam from Kuala Lumpur.
“The opportunity to connect with our consumers and have them in turn share a slice of our technology is the reason why we continue this unique effort. And as in previous years, we hope not only to give participants a great experience but also to depart some key insights into driving expertise and safety tips,” said Pouliquen.
