The top range model of the Perodua Alza MPV, the Alza Advanced Version is set to start delivery from 27 March 2010. This was announced today at the Perodua Body & Paint hub in USJ, where the first five customers who booked the variant took delivery of their cars in a small ceremony witnessed by the media.

Like the Standard and Premium variants, the Alza AV (ed: Not an official shortform) is offered with a 1.5-litre twin-cam DVVT engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Both manual and auto versions retail for RM6,000 above the equivalent Alza Premium variants.

For the extra money, Perodua offers buyers of the Alza AV a bodykit which consists of skirtings all-round and a rear spoiler, GPS system with integrated reverse camera, leather seats, and tinted glass.

We were shown display units of the Alza AV during the media test drive and also the launching ceremony last year. A notable change from those early units is the addition of a built-in mounting cradle for the GPS unit just above the driver’s side storage bin on the dashboard.

The five owners who took delivery of the Alza AV today were Suhana Jalil, Shamsuddin Md Yunus, Nurul Hazwani Che Abdul Shukor, Lee Pik Hun and Aizat bin Abdul Salam. Present at the Perodua B&P hub to handover the keys of their new ride was Perodua Managing Director En Aminar Rashid Salleh.

For the other buyers who also booked the Alza AV, En Aminar said, “The new variant will be delivered to customers from March 27 onwards. This is in conjunction with the Amazing Alza Day held at all our Sales and Service outles on 27 and 28 March.”

Perodua targets to sell about 800 units of the Alza AV per month, which would account for 20% of total projected Alza sales. As of 22 Mar 2010, Perodua has received some 2,130 bookings of the Alza AV, which En Aminar was keen to point out achieved without any active promotion or hard-selling of the variant.

Since its launch on 23 Nov 2009, Perodua has picked up 24,300 bookings for the Alza, with 13,200 units having already found homes to date.

The Alza AV is offered in three colours – Ivory White, Ebony Black, and Classy Purple. On-the-road prices with insurance, extracted from Perodua’s official website, are as follows:
