Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS)

To make one PAS, take the following ideas;

Luxury and utility of a Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Audi Allroad/ Volvo XC70 tall car look

Merc CLS/Audi A5 coupe roofline

Skoda Superb Twinhatch

BMW badge

Mix well

Let it simmer on the back burner of the marketing department for a suitable time,

serve when marketing campaign ready.

Yes, they are known ingredients but inventing is about putting known ideas together in new ways, after all the bicycle is just two wheels and some tubes.

BMW has grown quite adept at persuading the market to take on their newfangled concepts. This time it is an oversized sedan/hatch on stilts. We gleaned all this new information from a teaser animation the company released. Munich seem very pleased with the new concept and thinks it will revolutionise the world of luxury utility. I dunno, did the X6 revolutionise the world of Sporty SUV?

Anyway, the PAS may come with sliding/reclining rear seats like in the S-Class, 7-series, A8 and panoramic roof.

If all this sounds a bit familiar, then it’s probably because Renault tried somethign similar in the Vel_Satis, except that it did not have panoramic roof. I want to say that the Vel Satis does not have a sporty silhouette but then it is a French car and they have some far out ideas about what constitutes style.

This being a BMW product, it will probably look less weird and that badge will sell almost anything these days so don’t bet on not seeing a lot of PAS in the near future.
