SsangYong Stavic Available in Right Hand Drive in Malaysia
The much talked about Ssangyong Stavic, previewed here in three months ago, in August 2004, is now available for sale in right hand drive configuration. Imported by Competitive Supreme Sdn Bhd, the official importers and distributors of the Ssangyong range of vehicles in Malaysia, the Stavic is set to create waves in the MPV market by setting new benchmarks as to what an MPV should be.
Originally built as an eleven seater, the Ssangyong Stavic is a large sized MPV that is powered by a 2.7 litre DOHC common rail turbo charged diesel engine, the very same engine that powers the very popular Ssangyong Rexton. The Stavic can attain speeds of up to 200 km/hr, and costs less than 10 sen a kilometre in fuel costs. The local version will be a seven seater. In this configuration, you can carry seven people with their luggage easily.
Mated to the powerful diesel engine is a Mercedes Benz 5-speed automatic gearbox that also has a manual shift option. Drive is to the rear wheels through a robust rear axle. 4-wheel independent suspension with coil springs all round give the Stavic excellent handling and a comfortable ride. Safety features include airbags, ABS, and EBD.
The interior of the Stavic is luxuriously appointed, with electrically controlled leather seats, full carpeting, and dual air conditioning. The centre row of seats can be swiveled to make the rear cabin into a comfortable lounge, and these seats also fold over to make coffee tables.
Priced at RM168k onwards, depending of specification and packages, the Stavic makes a great value for money proposition.
