Waja Performance Club Celebrates 1st Anniversary

Members of the Waja Performance Club (WPC) which was established from an informal grouping of enthusiastic Proton Waja owners who met at the forum of AUTOWORLD.COM.MY a year ago recently celebrated the club’s first anniversary with a dinner at the Swiss Garden Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Some 80 members (the club now has a membership of almost 350) were present for the event. The guests-of-honour were Azmi Idris, General Manager of the Customer Retention Department at Proton Edar, and well-known rally driver Y.S. Khong.

Among the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the seven finalists in the WPC logo contest which attracted 30 entries. Encik Azmi helped in the selection of the winning logo which was created by AW forummer ‘Felines’. A WPC committee member said that while the logo was selected as the winning one, it may be modified or refined slightly before adoption as the club’s official logo.

As with most such celebrations, there was a lucky draw and other contests with prizes donated by EON, Proton Edar, Petronas, HESOVI and Avionics Enterprise (the workshop owned by YS Khong which specialises in wheel services). The 29-inch colour TV which was donated by Proton Edar was the subject of a bidding process with the money collected going to the WPC fund.

The club, which is officially registered with the Registrar of Societies, is planning many more activities for its members and has the budget to do so.
