Discovery Buyers Get Special Package
Following its 8-week long contest in which people who visited a Land Rover Malaysia showroom and tested a new Land Rover Discovery II Td5 had a chance to win themselves a new Discovery Td5, the company has now announced another promotion for the same vehicle.
This time, those who purchase a new Discovery II Td5 before December 31st 2001 will get an additional package of original Land Rover accessories for the vehicle. The value of the package is RM20,000, based on official retail prices and customers can choose from the wide range of accessories to make up the value of the package. There are some 128 accessories available for the Discovery Series II although not all may be in stock locally.
The promotion is part of an aggressive marketing campaign by Land Rover Malaysia this year to increase awareness of the Discovery following its re-introduction a few months ago. Assembly of the 4WD had been suspended for a year and when it was decided to resume assembly, the job was transferred from the AMI plant to Swedish Motor Assemblies, which has been assembling Volvos since the 1960s.
The latest Discovery Td5, which has a turbodiesel engine, is visually unchanged from that which was launched in October 1999 and even the price is unchanged at around RM219,000. However, as Land Rover has a policy of continuously working on detail improvements on all its vehicles, it is likely that there are improvements ‘under the skin’. It remains a technological leader in its class with features such as Hill Descent Control, Active Cornering Enhancement and Electronic Traction Control.
