PREVIEW – Honda’s Motorshow Concepts
“FUN MAX! — Take FUN to the MAX!” will be Honda’s theme at this year’s Tokyo. While the company aims to emphasise that motoring is fun, it will also continue to underline its efforts to protect the environment and increase safety. To demonstrate these, it will display conceptual study models and presentations of state-of-the-art technological solutions for maximizing safety and minimizing the impact on the environment, while still retaining the spirit of fun and exhilaration connected with driving and riding.
One of the concept models will be the Dual Note, a hybrid 4-door mid-engined sportscar that combines a 3.5-litre V6 engine with the innovative motor assist mechanism (IMA) and a newly-developed 4WD driveline.
Another sporty model will be the Bulldog, in which the convenience of an automobile and motorbikes are combined. Twin two-wheeled motorized commuter vehicles called e-DAX, are mounted within the Bulldog and the saddles of these bikes fold forward to serve as rear seat backs of the Bulldog.
On a more practical note, the Unibox creates a spacious cabin thanks to effective packaging with full module panels and a visible truss structure while the Model X is an active utility vehicle developed as a new “transportation space” that supports and enhances outdoor activities.
The 35th Tokyo Motorshow will open its doors to the public on October 27th 2001 at the Makuhari Messe exhibition centre outside Tokyo.
