Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will launch the Proton Waja Sales Carnival on the morning of Merdeka Day at the EON head office complex in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Selangor. Immediately following the launching ceremony, EON’s 52 branches and 123 dealers nationwide will open their doors to the public.

While the retail price has not been announced (although there are rumours of it being RM67,000 for the Waja 1.6), it is known that there will be four colour choices available: Arctic Blue, Silver 1, Indium 2 and Petrol Blue. Only the 1.6-litre version will be available initially with manual and automatic transmissions.

To add more spice to the EON Proton Waja Sales Carnival, the company is offering to every customer who makes any Proton car purchase between August 31st and December 31st 2000, eligibility to participate in a Slogan Writing Contest in which three Proton Wajas will be offered as the main prizes.

“To add to the razzmatazz, we will also have a precision driving spectacular to demonstrate the prowess of the Proton Waja. This will be presented by the EON Precision Driving Team led by a British driver who will put on a one-hour show to enthrall audiences,” said EON Managing Director Datuk Adzmi Abdul Wahab.
