Breadman, do you have wind sound in your Ford Focus starting from 100km/h? I have wind sound in my vehicle when the speed reaches 100km/h, and the wind sound gets louder at higher speeds.

Do you have any idea how to make the Focus free from wind noise up to 150km/h? Is it due to the rubber lining/seal around the door and the windscreen? The rubber lining still looks pretty good and new.

KL Auto have some products to address wind/vehicle noise, but not too sure if they will work for the Ford Focus.

Any thoughts?

Granted, the noise insulation of the Focus is not that good but I have experience worse in other models. The road noise can be intrusive at higher speeds. This is one reason I seldom turn on the radio except during traffic jams or rush hour crawls.

Usually the wind noise is just turbulence of the air flowing over the car.

You may want to Dynamat just the wheel arches first.

Thanks for the reply. Noise insulation of the Focus although good is not great when compared to my previous car the Nissan Sylphy. Road noise is due to type of tyres. But the suspension noise of the Focus is quite loud. When going over bad-surfaced roads or concrete grooved ramps up shopping malls, the suspension(not the tyres), make some noise akin to loose plastic containers knocking against each other. This one is inherent in the suspension design of the Focus I guess. I can still live with this, as when traveling on good roads or highways, the suspension won't make any noise and as such there is no sound from the suspension. Only the sound of tyres when traveling on the highways will be heard, and the quieter tyres will contribute to the overall quietness of the vehicle.

As for wind sound, I take note of your comment about the turbulence of air flowing "over" the car. Not too sure where does this turbulence happen that causes this wind sound. "Over the car" means the roof of the car? Initially I thought the wind is seeping through the rubber seal between the door and windscreen.

Just curious, have any Focus owners applied Dynamat to the wheel arches of the car and succeeded in addressing the wind noise?

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. Dynamat the wheel arches is to reduce the road noise and not wind noise. smile_wink.gif

The wind noise could be due to the contours of the car and not the door rubbers on such a new car.

Thanks for the clarification.

Any information how much is the cost of doing Dynamat for the wheel arches, and which shop?

I understand the Dynamat reduces road noise, but the tyres play a part too. I wonder if the Dynamat will reduce suspension noise as well, since the noise from the suspension of the Focus when going over bad-surfaced roads is not good (loud).

Thanks.
