For inner side of the rim, baby bottle brush would be good
I want to use the toothbrush on the areas between and behind the rim spokes. Previously I just poke my wheel brush in there and agitate.

Baby bottle brush bristle a bit stiff and not enough bristles.....

I use tbrushes only selectively on rims depending the type of spokes. Tbrushes are used only on those tight crevices where larger wheel brushes just cannot reach.
The proper method is to use appropriate chemicals to soften the deposits/stains/imbedded stuff so that you use softer materials to remove those contaminants with minimum brushing.

Will be good for those older honeycomb design rims....

3rd time already and the car looks good, with no vertical water/dirt streak from windows, door handles, gaps, etc.
For rims, I just use old t-shirts
If I'm going extreme, I would jack-up the car, take out the wheel and clean it, then can clean/polish the disc brake also
Repeat for the next 3 tyres ...

Some people talk about polishing the disc mainly bcos some discs appear corroded.
If im not mistaken, Sonax is selling an aerosol prdt specifically to remove this corrosion and to make the disc look nicer.

The area where the brakes pads are in contact will always shine after use. Due to the whole disc being cast iron it rust on contact with water. I know of some who spray high temperature paint on it (disc area near the rims)
