To be fair, wouldn't it be better to just use a sound meter to test the cars before and after treatment on a long stretch of road while keeping to a certain speed, RPM and gearing in both tests?

Air cond off, radio off, passenger and driver keep quiet, and just measure (sound meter should be attached to a suction cup on a window instead of being hand held to be fair).

At the end of the day, if the soundproofing works, the dBA figures will surely be lower and there's no argument. Of course, it has to be inline with customer expectation of how much noise reduced. Let's say a person spend 4k expect the ambient cabin sound to drop over 15dBA then it's unreasonable and probably impossible. But if he spends the same amount and get a 1dBA drop then it's kind of lame isn't it?

So, how much noise/ambient sound can we expect autofoam/soundproofing solutions to deliver based on the amount of work done? Obviously different car will have different results but there has to be a general ballpark figure at least.

My 2 cents.

Just out of personal curiosity, is there any actual measurement on how much dBA drop I can expect in my car if I did the basic autofoam comfort package in your 2012 offers? Comfort aside, I'd personally prefer looking at real world numbers rather than just feeling it is more quiet.

Would the SPL drop by 2 to 3dBA? I wouldn't mind doing up my car if I can get such gains smile.gif

Below are dB readings taken by Yeo on his Civic FD1 before and after,
1) QuietDrive whhel arch Coating
2) 3M door seals.

note:
1) Yeo's Civic was treated 1 year ago with 1) AutoFOAM Comfort package 2) Door SP 3) Boot lid solution
2) Readings were taken with I-phone dB meter app.
3) Readings wre done at 80km/h on the same stretch of road @ Mont Kiara.

Before 1) QuietDrive wheel arch treatment 2) 3M door seals.
http://www.facebook....r...e=1

3 hrs later AFTER treatment .
http://www.facebook....2...e=1

He recorded a 9 dB Noise reduction.
To be fair, dB readings from these tools are Not entirely accurate.
I would take HALF of the number to be the REAL world noise reduction.

Ultimately, it is YOU whom matters. Not just numerical readings from tools as the human hearing is so complex and clever that NO measuring tool can emulate...as least not for now. Numbers only tell a fraction of the story.

dB measurement will help for sure at certain level. But I believe it will lead to another issue. Although you probably get 10dB, you will start comparing how much reduction each other regardless car model and start depending on numbers instead of your own ear. 5 dB reductions in Camry probably is vast improvement but 5 dB in Perodua Kenari probably is nothing vice-versa. At the end, someone will bring up the issue that I didn’t get dB reduction compared to the other. There is unique value about NVH. People said Toyota Prius is quiet (at idle only I suppose) bcoz I found that tyre/road roar already annoyed me at 40kmh.

So anyone who does not share your opinion is a clown, bigger clown, fan boy, cyber trooper, proxy, competitor, ... what else?

Do you know how much cyber troopers cost? More than your refund smile.gif

Guess who has fans? People who cheat or people who are great at what they do?

Can you share how you get 65% of original amount spent when Desmond is willing to refund 100% of your SP? Oh, you including auto foam into that statement aren't you? Cheeky cheeky.

*yawn*

Hi Siv75,

LOL.... I really wonder if you are what "Perkasa" is to "UMNO" and in this case/ forum "siv75" to "KL Auto/ Desmond". It can be singled out that you are the top "provocateur" here. Good job smile_thumbup.gif and I hope you are well paid for your efforts.

To the rest of the genuine readers here, I would like to clarify some insinuations made:-

1) Anyone who does not share my opinion is NOT a clown, bigger clown, fan boy, cyber trooper, proxy, competitor. If you are following this thread, please feel free to decide who is the "provocateur" who started labeling me a clown, bigger clown, cyber trooper, proxy, competitor in the first place. I am just re-directing this labels back at the very few "provocateurs" here who is feeling the heat.

2) No sir.... I don't know how much cyber troopers are paid. Siv75 seems to be very "experienced" on this.... I wonder why smile_clown.gif

3) Ermmm.... fans/groupies arent that hard to come by as long as they share the same passion/ funds/ etc... here are some examples.... International : Hitler/ Charles Manson / Pamela Anderson have their own fans. Heck even our local celebrities have fans such as Khairy, Sami (Mr. Bocor), etc. I leave it to you to decide whether they are "good" at what they do......

4) What is so "cheeky" about categorising the autofoam under SP? KL Auto have ALWAYS claimed that the Autofoam reduces "road noise substansially and other miraculous effects ....NO? Maybe Siv75 is trying to prove that he knows maths or other readers here can't count?

Wow, 9dBA reduction, how much did he spend on that setup? I'm quite interested in doing up my car now as well . How much does it cost to do the basics for my car? Car = VW Passat.

Btw, I have an actual sound meter and the difference between the iphone app and my companies 4k sound meter is about 7dBA in difference (that's to say, minus 7dBA from the iphone data and you'll get the actual reading from a proper sound meter).

Hi Desmond,

There is only 2 suggestions put forward :-

1) By siv75: remove the SP by myself and get a refund. Until today, siv75 and you (the SP expert and installer) have yet to answer the golden question which I keep posting? How do I remove the painted QueitDrive on all 4 wheel arches to be eligible for a refund?

2) Same question for the autofoam.... how do I remove the autofoam for a refund? Heck, just because I helped you "advertise" your product saying that the autofoam did improve handling and ride comfort, I wasn't looking for "better handling and ride comfort" in the first place. I bought the Mazda satisfied with its original ride comfort and handling as it is. Yup (advertising again), your AUTOFOAM does improve the handling/ going over bumps part ..but HEY.... I wanted a silicone boob job/ soundproofing )... not wake up to find saggy boobs from the surgery but the good news that you corrected and improved my nose which is fine in the 1st place (even though I agree my nose looks better now).

3) The friend suggestion can work, just that it is complicated. No "friends" of my would want KL Auto's products since it did not work for me. And I wouldn't be a real "friend" if I am passing him a product that doesnt work for me at the mercy/ risk of a most likely "disgruntled" installer. In fact, most of my friends and family already laughed at me after being in my ride... calling me too guillible spending RM3.2K in soundproofing without much difference after.

A solution you ask.... why don't you answer the 2 most simple questions I have been repeating... how do I remove the autofoam and painted QueitDrive from my car? Maybe something can be "worked out" once we know how to resolve this first?
