Funny that he mention "esp japs has to pay expansive service"
Guess he has never sent a conti to service......hehehehe.

Its the same to me no matter new or 2nd.
New got warranty, 2nd (if u pick the right model with full service history) can rival new car.
There is never a win-win situation when buying normal car regardless new or used.
We start to lose money on the 2nd day of ownership.

Can i just change the rear spring?
I am looking at APM performax but if it lowers the car that means my car is not balance anymore right?
Its looking up.
The rear is too soft even with 2 adult at the back.

I am oso thinking of getting Osram nightbreaker as i drove nat night at crazy speed sometimes.
Its plug n play right as long as i get the same watt?

i use osram NB before, try to get the latest version NB Plus. old version filament very fast break, 9 months only. FYI, new fl light is very bright, i guess is the design of headlight... the output is whiter than normal headlight... smile_thumbup.gif smile_thumbup.gif

I have driven new cars b4 but what is the point?
Besides I cars loose value as soon as 2nd day like gunnerz said.

I am not rich enough therefore I can only afford 2nd but high spec rather than new but poverty spec!

For rm80k yes I can get almost 2 new BLMs or persona or vios or city but for the same money I can also get a volvo s60 2006 or camry 2005. or even an E-class mercedes w210 year 2001 with multifunction steering, rain sensor, auto headlight,8 airbags, abs/ebd, leather seats+ electric seats and more.

Similar age Peugeot 407 also comes with such goodies plus GPS and JBL sound system+leather seats...too many to mention d and here. not to mention these euro cars come with trip computer (distance to empty, tank remaining, average speed and fuel consumption etc) and vital driver info such as time to service, oil level and autocruise/speed limiter.

all for less than new saga price. no offence here.

I go for spec. and yes of course your money is yours. But when u buy used, you are also paying less than the 1st owner who bought new.

And why not 2nd hand car? i am sure 99% new owners would take a good care of their car. who wouldnt?
the car is the 2nd expensive thing you will buy after a house.

So no harm buying 2nd good low mileage car. Minor accident fender bender is ok and u can haggle more due to that and get even less price .See?

U save at least 30% from the new price for cars 2 years or older. U must also remember that interest you paid plus your deposit.

And gunnerz, Ford malaysia do give free service + parts for 60,000km or 3 years.

Same goes for certain peugeot like the 207 if i am not mistaken. VW i believe also does a similar deal.

Honda did give similar deal to accords back in 2003-4 but that was rare.

Hehehe.....with conti, its not during that free service or 60k km that one should be worry of.

I am not trying to set a fight but nothing is free.
Its bundle up in the cars price.
All manufacturer are not welfare foundation, they only care about market share and profit.
As long as the profit is within a set margin, its fine.
Same goes with how banks operate, lower interest rate does not mean u are going to save. They will cover up by imposing hidden fees and charges. We lose here but gain back there.

We are no longer in a world where cars are built to last.
Why dont u mention Waja 1.8?

hmm...excuse my language but i think we have run out of topic here? smile_approve.gif

back to first batch of BLM topic, the 2008 first batch BLM in my family with the chasis 26xxx (auto) has served us well with basically no major and minor issues except for a leaky roof on the first day of delivery. FC is terrible if confined to 100% city short drives which the car usually is used for. till today, a full tank can go no more than 200km. Proton SC says its normal and theres no problem with the IAFM module.

the BLM can in fact acclerate much better than mitsu waja at speeds above 120kmh but stability wise lose abit la...must be due to the torsion beam setup. fastest speed ive driven the BLM is 160kmh and to be honest, the steering was quite light and i cant feel the feedback anymore especially the rear end. at similar speeds, waja 1.6 still feel better. Revving wise, BLM can rev to redline easily compared to mitsu 1.6 waja.

my aunt who owns the BLM has intentions to trade in the car soon as it is almost paid up already. Waiting for the all new Swift to be launched here.

i wonder if they did retune the 1.3 saga FL engine....my aunt was a first time proton buyer with the BLM and now, dissapointed with it and will not consider a proton anymore. High Fc and poor performance for short drives is the main concern.

so proton....i hope you make a remark out of this or lose a few more customer smile_sleepy.gif

Surely there is something wrong with your BLM but the sc cant rectify it.
Even when my engine is still tight, it can manage close to 300km.
Faulty IAFM, i can still get close to 30km.

DO have it checked somewhere else or have a go at Eon SC at Peringgit Melaka if u r close.
I had mine change twice there.

whats your BLM chasis number? i'll try to bring my aunts ride to EON kuching tomorrow. the BLM was bought at Proton Edar Kuching and never visited EON b4.

btw, how long is the standard warranty for the car? 3 years right?

FYI, the BLM was always on RON97. just recently downgraded to 95 after the super price hike. with RON95, the car feels way heavy and underpowered la

Little update on my BLM's problem...

I went to OTHER proton SC today... The person in-charge there claimed that the engine oil I used (10-40W) is too thin and will cause evaporation... that's why my engine oil reduce... They recommend 20-50W (Mineral type) for BLM, but not semi-syn 10-40W... (??? the question is... the engine oil used before was recommended by other 1st SC at Tmn Midah, how can this be???)

After 2 hours, i took my BLM... the counter gal told me that there are "minor" leakage at "screw" (in fact dono what screw, and i think weird coz i couldn't trace any oil mark at my carpark)... so they serviced it and top up my engine oil until max level... Request me to monitor whether got any reduction for next 1 or 2 weeks...

Dear sifus... izzit true that using semi-syn engine oil will cause evaporation??? Need ur advice... smile_big.gif

Too thin?! You see, this is the problem that i see MOST Malaysian mechanics have. Poor knowledge. They can come up with all sorts of nonsense.

Guess what, i have been using 10w-30 engine oil for my 1.6 Campro IAFM Persona for near to 10,000KM awaiting for oil change real soon. The oil level is still the same as before. I drive pretty aggressive at once a while too.

So i can say.... its nonsense.

Are you an automotive engineer? Are you an oil company specialist?

If not, I would rather believe what the car manufacturers and oil company said rather than a mechanic. And all the car manufacturer and oil company said "5K for mineral and 10K for Synthetic" is rubbish. Only in Malaysia do you hear such rubbish. Go "google" and you will find what I said is true.

I love the way you talk dude. Straight to the point, no nonsense. And yea, i agree to what you said.
