Hello all Rextonians, WTA if we want to change any parts of our brake e.g disc or brake pad, did we need to shift the gear to N neutral? While sending my company's fortuner for service, in workshop I saw one white Rexton 2.7 quite new about 2004 or 2005 but seem like serious gear damage. I asked the workman he told me the owner send the Rexton to another workshop for rear brake pad changing, while in the process, the Rexton was in P parking gear and then suddenly Rexton move forward by it's own, maybe the workshop didn't jack front and rear they just only jack rear only since want to change rear brake pad. And then, there goes the gear problem.

So I wonder, if we could use N neutral while parking rather than P parking gear in some situations?

Can the gear get damage if the car in P gear then accidentally it moves forward or backward?

Hi Dylan,

Why the stock time quite slow? how many people in the car?

( btw, just for fun I tried standing start with my friend modified 1.6 satria neo manual...hihihihi smile_thumbup.gif )

Hi Nicky,
Car is just two of us, although its full of luggages at the back, full till the rear seats as I could remember. The gear has a little hesitant to upshift in stock map, hence it probably dragged a little longer wasting time. After the remap, the gearchange was seemless.

Anyway, i am going to remap another Rexton here tomorrow, Will see if I have chance to record the timing again.

Thanks for the alert. If your Rexton is parked at slope, the handbrake don't seems to have enough force to hold it if its is at N gear but will be firmly holding when you move it to P. I do think when you engage P gear, it lock the gear somehow. But I wonder how could it suddenly move forward on its own since the P gear should already been engaged before they started jacking it up. Does the workshop bear for the damage?

From my driving experience with other Auto cars, I don't normally engage P parking gear unless at slope or need to lock gear handle. Advise from some experience drivers that this reduce wearing off the gearing off with frequent gear changing from D to P.

Thanks for the hospitality. I thoroughly enjoy the last few days together, especially with Bro RazoPower & Bro Teerex. This is a really fruitful trip that will bring our Rexton Hub to the next level of competency.

I have emailed AutoWorld to request setting up private forum, so that all the info can be better arranged by relevant topic. Will be touching up the photos that we taken before sharing them. Some of them will be posted to public while some will be kept private with access among listed Rextonians only.

AutoWorld has replied and we are ready to setup our own private club forum. We need to discuss and decide the following to provide for the setup.

1. Name of the Club - I searched the following domains available where we can register and then set to redirect to AW private club URL, good for promotion purpose. Please name your preference from 1 ~ 3 where 1 is the top choice, we will select the one with highest choice.
i. Rexton Hub
ii. MyRexton
iii. Rextonian

2. Forum Moderator - Need at least 2 moderators that will be managing the forum. This is different from the role of the club members that may include Advisers, Region Coordinator, Committee where we will discuss privately later. The forum moderator should be internet savvy, frequently online & moderating forum postings according to AW rules. I can fill up one of the Moderator roles. Need at least another volunteer.

Please forward any other idea, concerns or plans that you guys have.

Hi All,

I guess we had a great time last weekend. We have to extend our greatest thanks to bro Rx270Xdi and bro Teerex for their time and effort in teaching us how to maintain our Rexton hand-ons and not to forget, rx270xdi's workshop, very-very generous of him to loan us his workshop, if not we will be sitting in the rain!. I have benefitted a lot during this time, at least to understand more in-depth on our ride.

Thank you bro r3xton for the effort in mailing autoworld to get more info and how to setup our private club, i should say my preference will be Rexton Hub.

As for the moderators, since r3xton is very internet savvy, i will nominate u as the first moderator and the second moderator maybe either rx270xdi or bye-bye 2u. Again, this is my personal opinion. Pls feel free to give your views too.

Until the next.....take care and cheers,

Razopower

Right.. surely how can we repay Bro Rx270Xdi generosity for us to use his personal "workshop" and sharing his technical expertise, especially when he is still not fully recovered. I must also thanks Bro Teerex for his extra helpfulness to DIY my Rexton and having spent his entire Sat and Sunday with us. We surely need good Technical Advisers in the club when we have things setting up.

Once our private club is setup, I will be rearranging the content per topic and posting all the info that we have gained during our TT. We could then start planning for our first troop.

Let's hear from Bro RX270XDI and Bro ByeBye2u on their response on moderator and if anyone else has more views to share.

Bro byebye2u found a contact in Kepala Batas that can repair gear box, so this could be cheaper option than having to replace a new one. PM me anyone need the contact.

Hi All Bro,

First - actually i'm still still speechless , lost of word to describe our very fruitful TT, with each of us sharing whatever knowledge that we have on Rexton smile_thumbup.gif .

second - Damn the rain..hihihihi.. we are unable to press more than 120km/h smile_angry.gif.

third - thank you , thank you, thank you for all the generosity ( turbo clamp, fuch ATF and others) trink39.gif

I vote for Rexton Hub....but sincerely I have to decline the 2nd moderator due to my very limited knowledge on IT and my limited free time that I have. I look forward on one free weekend to come down Kl again to do lots more spare parts shopping.
