Hi all,

I had my RX270xdi remap by DK.Tuning..0 to 100 in 13.9 second improve (with 3 adult) to 12.2 second.
Later i went for dyno and it show 128 wheel HP 3rd gear at 78kmh (unable to give the rpm reading since the dyno need special tool for common rail turbo diesel).standard crank HP should be 164 HP.( avanza auto loss 32 hp reading from crank, rexton maybe somewhere 50 HP)

then replace the air filter to K & N, result 143 wheel HP at the same condition. and it read 151 wheel HP at 110kmh 3rd gear!!

since i'm unable to find any SUV/Truck accessories in penang, i remove the Diesel Particulate Filter with a straight pipe....YES the sound is terrible BUT the power is awesome.

FC has improve 8% to 12% but usually same as stock.( I have a very heavy right foot).

I'm still searching for improve aftermarket spring and shock absorber, can anybody here point the direction??

hi bro,

good for you. if u manage to get the before mapping dyno will be great. that will clearly state what is net gain after remapping. based on experience by looking at your 0-100kph reduced by 1.7sec, i predict power increase about 20%.

if u really gain that much of power after K&N filter, that means your old filter is really really bad!!! filter alone can't get >10hp.

cheers.

I tried once TuneIt Chip on my ranger TDCI.. i didnt clock the century time. But i dont feel any diff from stock engine. In the end i never buy.

hi tpl,

it possible, try vector-tuning. r u in klang valley? this is what tested by YSKhong with Ranger TDCi

Vector Tuning Review

cheers.

Hi Tazztham,

Agree with you that remap alone would increase 20% of power. I dyno the car after remap then installed the original map before dyno again. It seem that the ecu still reading the advance map(usually it take hours to a few days before the ECU settle down with each new map!!).so the dyno with original map show only slightly down HP at 3700 rpm.( i still don't know the max HP of my car..need to dyno again at a complete dyno centre.do you know any??)

yes the original filter is in really bad shape and cost almost half the K & N price!!

But for any turbodiesel owner here.." please go and get any remap, tuning chip or whatever they called...then install free flow intake like K & N....later remove the Diesel Particulate Filter ....hihihihihi bye bye petrol"

hi byebye2u,

that is very strange. once you remap with either original / performance software, the ECU should behave immediately. there will be no 'memory' reside and need time to learn.

your 270XDi is about 165hp as std? usually the lost is about 20% fr crank to wheel.

Hi Tazztham,

Correct me if i'm wrong, depends on the ECU type, program or car..some are instance and some will take longer time to fully perform with the new remap.on my friend mini it took almost a week for the idle rpm to stay still..on my rexton the idle rpm become a bit lower than normal for 2 days before it settle on the correct level..somehow the engine, the car or the whole system itself takes some time to adjust to the new remap.

But , the power is immediate after remap, only the small small things need some time.

injectors need to adjust to new setting pressure , the turbo has to get use to spin faster, wastegate, blow off or whatever they called are push to different level need bed-in, the exhaust system has to handle more gas flow/clear the carbon deposit before it can function at new level.

once everything has get used to advance map,,when you install back the original map and dyno, the result won't be standard again because all the injector, turbo, wastegate, blow off, exhaust and the whole system has perform better/smoother with previous advance map.

that is why when i remove the advance map and put back the original map, dyno show 148HP at wheel at 3700rpm. on avanza the loss from crank to wheel is 32HP, on persona/GEN2 is around 28HP..mine is auto transmission with bigger in everything..( BMW 5 series auto loss around 60HP). let say mine loss the same as avanza...then HP at crank on standard setting will read 148 + 32 = 180bhp at crank!!!!standard should be around 164bhp only..

regards

I once refered to Ford Focus 2.0TDCi review in Taiwanese web, and get to know that the twin-clutch Getrag Powershift gearbox used in this car could stand up to 450NM of torque max. IMHO adding 20%-25% of power to this car by chip tuning shouldn't be any problem.
