Modenas Elegan experience

Hi everyone,

Need some help here, my cooling system have gone haywire. I fill up the radiator and closed. But when I start her up, the water just spotaneously gushing out from the reserve tank. As a result of that the water become low again. Any ideas urgent. Thanks.

Problem solved guys, the head gasket got burn before due overheating. This was due to the water pump gone leaking. The bottom line is everything fixed cost me rm200 more or less. Less learned - always watch close at your temp meter if most of the time it stays at 3 bar means there a problem ,go fix fast.

I just bought a used Elegan. Want to find out you sifus what fuel do you use? Ron 95, 07 or Shell V-Power. Do you feel that using these different fuels makes a difference? Thanks.

I felt more power using 97. Ron95 always give me some jerk during hi speed riding. Anybody else find the difference. TQ

Don't have that problem. Since RON 95 was introduced in the market, I never touch RON 97 again. It this helps, I use BHP.

This morning while riding to work on PLUS KL-SBN (as I've done countless times), I experienced a little drama. I was doing 110kmh, my usual h/way speed when I overtook this fella on LC. He was in the middle lane (of three) and I was on the emergency lane. With such a wide berth, there was no way I could have ruffled any feather plus, when I overtook him, he was in the midst of overtaking a lorry on the slowest lane (that’s why he was in the middle lane). But as soon as I passed him (and he, the lorry), he sped up. I was still doing 110kmh when he overtook me. Then he slowed down. I sensed that this fella wanted to play but I ignored him and maintained my speed. Pretty soon I passed him again. Sure enough he revved up and once again overtook me and – get this – positioned himself right in front of me.

By then I fully grasped what this chap wanted and decided to give what he’s been begging for. I full-throttled and that fella did the same but this was when the drama got a little anti climax because within a few seconds my ride matched his and after that steadily leaving him behind. He tried his best to give a proper fight (after all, he started it) but after a very brief moment, there was more than 50 meter gap between me and him. I glanced at the speedo and it read somewhere between 120 and 130. Soon there’s not much can be seen of him other than just a little speck on my rear view mirror.

Ok, before anyone flaming me for crude behaviour, let me reiterate again that I didn’t start it – but this fella asked for it. There were many times I passed by LCs on h/way and they returned the favour by re-overtake me. But that’s fine with me because they usually disappear leaving me alone. However the one this morning was deliberately harassing me. So for that, I hope he enjoyed learning the lesson as much as I do teaching it.

Oh BTW, my Elegan is 3 years old and that LC, sporting WRH plate, is about 2. Plus I just had my piston shined 3 weeks ago. Not bad huh for an old ride.

Same happen to me balee but this not involving LC bike. Last week while riding my elegan from NKVE thru Duke Hiway, I did overtake a VTS with a speed 120kmh. No provocation at all as I’m rushing back to fetch my kids from my mum’s house. All of sudden the VTS rider rev his bike & overtook me rite in front of my wheel. I’ve to slow down my bike just to avoid any mishap. So I’m just maintain my speed limit & overtook him again and actually I didn’t bother about him anyway. But then, the VTS rider did it again…

That is when he keep reving his engine rite in front of my nose when we passing by bike lane at toll plaza near ayer panas setapak. As predicted, once he reach main road, he accelerate like a motoGP rider with aerodynamic body position… hehehe… that is when I full throttled my bike with 135kmh.. but I didn’t manage to overtake him so I’m just tailing him. However while we negotiating the long corner just before setiawangsa exit, the VTS rider suddenly slow-down his speed and “terkial-kial� controlling his bike not to overshoot the corner. That is when I took the chance to overtake him full throttle thru the long corner. I managed to peek my speed nearing 140kmh… hehehehe… the VTS is about 20 meter behind me & trying to chase me. But then, I’ve reach AU2 exit so I slowed down to exit the hiway while the VTS rider overtook me with full speed… vrroooommmmm............ how ever I manage to catch the glimpse of the bike which is not a VTS but a Symphony 250i… hahahahahaha… I really thought it was a VTS since the bike look similar from behind. Hahahaha.. no offense to any SYM rider... but this is not to tell who is faster but more on the attitude of our rider whom always irritate other riders.. no matter what bike u ride... cheers...

jacobb, on both occassions (yours and mine), there's similarity. Both riders thought that they have the upper hand with their sleeker machines compared to the stodgy Elegan. With this in their mind, they thought they can bully and get away with it. But their thought were proven wrong. And I can imagine their embarrasment (I pat my butt when I overtook the LC for the third time ).

But there's interesting points in your case:
First: Your Elegan can manage close to 140kmh? Wow, mine barely touch 130 even when new.
Second: Are you sure it was the Sym 250? How come it's performance so pathetic (only 140kmh?)

Just remembered, since you managed to overtook him at the corner and had him on your rear view, how many headlights did you see? This will determine whether your tormentor was a VTS or a 250.
