RM75k seems expensive for a Proton MPV. At that price most people will go for Toyota Avanza or Nissan GLivina. They should price the Proton MPV between RM60-70k, or less.

We're not being negative. In fact most of us here own the same brand. Grandis kerb weight is around 1,600kg and the 1.6 CPS pick-up is considered just "OK" only to propel waja or gen-2 which is around 1,200kg. It will be worse when it is laden no matter how you tune gear ratio or what sit. Some more, why we need 10 cup holder?

There a 1 unit at my wife factory to fit in the seat belts. The engineer drove it alone and he told me the pick-up is like driving avanza with 4 passengers! Yes! and my engineer fren is only 75kg.

To me, engine is the heart of the car no matter how great it looks or how flowery it is named

Definitely will not suit for those who modified their earlier cars to improve its performance. Maybe suitable for those 50yrs above or those with heart problem.. smile_big.gif

Or, you can start writing to Proton R&D to ask them to start design a true 1.8 CPS hehe...Then can fit it into NEO CPS R3 perhaps also...

Actually most(not all) MPVs are not meant for sporty driving but to fit a large number of people in it, so power in secondary for most potential buyers who have a big family. People will still buy them if the price is affordable and cheap. However this is not to be the case with the Exora. No matter how good the Proton guys boast on its quality and performance, it is still wearing a Proton badge. Its equivalents in the Avanza and GLivina, although the former having a smaller engine, will appeal to a larger crowd due to the strong Japanese brand name since the price is more or less similar(I think the Avanza 1.3 may be cheaper).

I guess most people who would consider buying this new Exora would put the Proton badge behind and go for the all-new looks, and I have to say it looks miles better on the exterior than the boxy Avanza. I have no clue why the MPV was priced so high since Proton vehicles are usually priced RM20-30k lower than their Japanese equivalents(no thanks to tax structure in protecting Proton) but I seriously doubt the Exora would sell in bucket load and emulate the Avanza or even the Grand Livina if the price is above RM70k.

and a way of proton telling people that they are lying to the malaysians.

first they created a naming contest for this mpv - stating clearly that names of animals or plants are not allowed.
then they chosed the name of exora for the new model.

and from where the name exora is based? ixora - a type of tropical plant with showy flowers.

alldisc,
relax bro, i know you entered and lost that naming contest same as me but nevermind, let's wait for the next Proton SUV naming contest (if any) OK.. smile_approve.gif
