Autoworld was down again for most of yesterday night till this morning. I checked that AutoWorld is hosted by well known local hosting data center that should have very good experience in handling situation like this.

Most of the established US host guaranteed at least 99.9% uptime, which is lesser than 43 minutes of downtime per month, otherwise the entire month is fully refunded. If a SLA is signed, compensation on every extra downtime is non uncommon.

If the host did not included any uptime monitoring and server down alert, there are plenty free and paid web services that provide website uptime monitoring and instant alert on server down.

Example : http://host-tracker.com/

Possibility to receive error notifications both to your Email, ICQ, GTalk or cell-phone via SMS;
Possibility to receive specified (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly) reports;
Accumulation of availability statistics with further reporting;
Resource accessibility instant check.
Uptime button;
Distributed monitoring;
Instant site check;
Monitoring period – every 1/5/15/30/60 minutes;
The HEAD/POST/GET HTTP-methods support;
Keyword presence control of a page;

I guess AutoWorld should work something out with the host to identify the reason of the frequent and long downtime. It surely do not reflect positively on all the parties involved.

just contributing my bit for the benefit of everyone but it is upto AW to take up the effort. Malaysia network and host are well known for 2 things - spam friendly and unreliable. I would have hosted in Singapore for better connectivity, better bandwidth and pretty competitive pricing but most importantly with much more competent and reliable technical support.

Not suprising with the technology of security among online banking here, especially the smaller one. Alternatively, we can just pull an ATM machine with my Rexton. This is simpler and lesser logistic issue plus proven many times that it works and uncatchable yet.
