Then the car have no power to even climb the damansara heights highway

Mind sharing your GB overhaul experience and the details as well?

So far I have taken the car out from Torino since Monday. They say have
to overhaul GB, so just waiting for the time. My case is that since
during warranty, there was already signs of GB problem. As I said just
last month I send it in for servicing and to check on GB and they told me
nothing much just something loose (i forgot the parts name) and fixed.
But as usual drive a few days and 'Automatic GB Faulty' flash on the OBC
(on board computer).
Send it in 3weeks ago b4 my China trip to check and they told me truly GB
problem either change or overhaul.
I mean everytime we send in the car for service and they charge us RM80
for 'check the problem' and usually until is too late only we know.
If and is truly the AL4 GB is faulty, should not FIAT do something about
it?? No wander TopGEar do says that Italian car have quality issue

if you read my postings, my case was underfilling. I suspect its also got
something to do with the ATF. Fiat recommends Tutela which my previous
owner's mechanic was using (red in colour). The Ulysse II and I share the
same GB and engine. This is also true for PSA Citroen variants. The AL4 GB
was jointly developed between PSA and Renault. So I woudl say the people
that knows best about the GB would be the PSA Citroen group. I have since
change my ATF to the Esso ATF formulated ONLY for AL4 (PSA
recommendation). Done the ATF level check as per factory workshop
practise. Its so much better. Assuming yours is just a case of ATF fluid
quality and level problem, this shoud solve the problem before we go on to
check on the solenoid problem (if it exist) and the others.
I think its probably worth your while to try this out and see if improves.
After all, sounds like you are already ready to do the GB overhaul thingy.
Whats another bottle of 2 litres ATF to be added just for problem
isolation sakes. Dun worry, I have tried overfilling my GB by 1 litre or
more. Its still running fine. Off course I have drain it out since I did
the ATF level check recently.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Ah...did u D.I.Y to change the ATF? Or you send it to Peugeot or Citroen.
Keeping my fingers cross that is just like your case. If not heavy damage
to the wallet
Just wandering how many Ulysse I or II, Peugeot & Citroen MPV owners out
there that are in this forum
Posted 03 August 2007 - 06:08 PM
forum, not many (more like a handful only). Guess the rest just leave it
to their trusted mechanic and pay what they ask for.
