I think that like the Nissan Latio 1.6 Sport, the Ford Focus Sport has been given the wrong name. It should just be called the Ford Focus GL hatchback or something like that. I think this car would be transformed had it been fitted with the 6 speed manual transmission. Call me old fashioned, but a sports car with automatic transmission is not sports car to me!

yah a manual version would be nice but unstd that the market here is always been auto and is hard to blame the distributor too since they need to be profitable.

If you ask me, the word 'Sport' is one that has been most over-abused by marketing departments of auto manufacturers.
Examples:
- BMW M Sports
- Mazda3 Sport
- Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
- Toyota TRD Sportivo
- Nissan Latio Sport
- Nissan Sentra Sport
- and the list goes on...

When returning the Focus, I had a quick and pleasant chat with one of their PR people. While we both would love to see a manual version of the Focus, the reality is that they are having problems to shift the auto versions already. Manual transmission at those prices would be even more difficult to sell.

Fit a few pieces of plastic they called bodykit plus a set of alloys and you have a 'sports' car.

Yes, its a commercial decision. But they should at least offer enthusiasts the option to order a manual version. I am sure buyers won't mind waiting for their car to arrive.

Ah yes, the Ah Beng kits!
Funnily, the reason why my friend bought the Focus was for its clean lines, devoid of any ah beng kits. So Ford would have lost a sale if it had those kits!
