When it comes to comfortable cars and affordable.. for long distance
malaysia roads.. I would definately say it has to be the Camry.
Else if you can spend a bit more.. Saab 9-5 and the Volvo S80.

Most comfortable car for long distance journey? That's too general a
question.

Let's try to put things in perspective. If it is about the most
comfortable <new> car for long distance journey <sorted by pricing
category and with 4 passengers and their luggage for 1 week's holiday.>
then we may be able to make more specific comments.

here's my 2 cents worth from my personal experience:

Category 1 (to to RM100k)
Proton Perdana V6

Category 2 (up to 140k)
Toyota Camry 2.0
Honda Accord 2.0

Category 3 (up to 180k)
Toyota Camry 2.4
Honda Accord 2.4

Notice that these are big cars. Let's face it, when you're going long
distances, nothing beats the stability and comfort of a big car.

Anything more (way over RM250K) category and we're spoilt for choices.
One of the most comfortable cars I've driven and been a passenger in, is
the Mercedes E240V6 (approx Rm400k) followed by the new B200T (approx
Rm300k). Both cars are pretty awesome in their price range and may be
considered the most plush and comfortable cars.

MPVs are the best for me. MPVs have the best seating position(like sitting
on a normal cushioned chair) and after a long drive, you step out of the
car without back aches and pains.

i sent my car for major service and was given a courtesy car to drive
around. It was a citroen ZX(volcane??). Darn... it was old but it has one
of the most comfortable seats!!!

I drove for 4hrs non-stop in the city and I have no backache. The seat is
very comfy.

I think probably french cars really have good seats. C5 also VERY good.
But I didn't have chance to test Peugeot cars(long run).

Next to the Frenchies is Volvo. Seat support also very good. You'll
immediately know that the seats are comfy.

for me, continental cars are still the best for long distance driving.
better than accord, better than camry even.

my choice would be, get a E36 325i 1994-95 model. super stable at speeds up
to 230km/h, looks good,rear-wheel drive, handles very well on tight twisty
roads, 50:50 weight balance, has badge appeal being a bmw, torquey 2.5ltr
engine means effortless cruising and dont forget that silky smooth bmw
6-cyclinder engine.

price? around RM41-45,000. 2 minor downsides, its not a big car, but 4
adults plus weekend luggage is no problem. Continental maintenance is of
course higher than a japanese car. Not so much on basic maintenance, but
cost of spare parts.
