same here, got the a4 just because of its 1.8T engine. as far as maintenance is concerned, what i has so far are very reasonable, just the normal wear and tear. still not giving up my a4 to any of the newer models.

Hi Guys,

I just test drive the new A4 1.8T... very impressive. I have some questions that maybe you guys can help me out.

What is the cost of maintenance & repairs like? I understand that even the Audi specialists need to buy the spare parts from HICOM as there are no 3rd party parts distributor (unlike BMW or Merc), which is why the parts are expensive. Is that true?

Some people just say audi's are expensive to maintain, they are toomuch of a trouble, its all absolutely nonsense, audi's come with a 3 years warranty, any parts gone will be covered. the warranty can be extended for additional 2 years. there is 5 years or 105,000 kms free service.

after the 5 years, you should sell the car and buy a new one, because any car 5 years is the life on regular usage, if you are an average user or a low one, then you will be clocking this 105,000 kms in over a period of 7 years or more. any car above 105,000kms is considered old!

i own a B8 A4, its a fantastic car to drive, every time you drive you feel its your first time, only audi has this emotional sense of engineering, said all this, little expensive is good that way you keep turning heads, i always wish audi's should be expensive so they dont become too common that every mole in street has one!

buy an audi, it will speak for who you are!

I agree that Audis are good cars.

However, a warranty is only as good as who is providing the warranty. If you have gearbox on and off fault and the dealer's diagnosis says no fault, there's nothing much you can do if he refuses to follow up. This was the example with a GTI DSG gearbox in Penang.

Another example is VW in JB do not have courtesy cars, so if your car is stuck with them for a week to fix something major, tough luck. Whereas MB and BMW will provide you with a courtesy car. So all this warranty may sound good, but you need to check the details to see how good it really is.

I purposely asked and they said company has no such policy. They also said they will feed back to HQ when I told them about CCB and AB having courtesy cars in JB.

Can you stretch to a C250? If so, why not test drive it and see? It's almost as fast as GTI. Handling also almost there. VW is not worth the hassle especially in JB. Even Audi. The new manager who used to look after VW Cars last time, then joined Audi when they took over the VW showroom has left again. The only stable brands in JB are Merc, BM and Volvo. It's not small money (to me anyway), so think carefully.

Good point, this courtesy car thingy by right should apply to VW Msia (if they are to position themself here as premium make). Wonder if u know any of the KL dealers could cater for this?

Merc C250 is a great car with established after sales, but also quite a stretch in terms of budget, m having this dilemma as well smile_blackeye.gif

Step aside Beemers and Mercs , Veedub is coming

I dunno. But VWM themselves are crap, so what do you expect from their dealers?

I dunno how fast you need to go, but the C200 CGI does 0-100 in 8.2 secs and max around 230 km/h @ RM255k. Not super fast but no slouch either. It has 184 bhp and 270 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 4,600 rpm. smile_thumbup.gif

Or you could try Mini Cooper S @RM240k which is almost on par with GTI performance but has only 2 doors but will be serviced by Auto Bavaria which is ok compared to VW and Audi in JB. The recently introduced Cooper S has more power and torque as well! smile_thumbup.gif

I suppose this courtesy car thingy only applies to the dealer u bought it from? what if eg. U bought in JB but use in KL then if sent to service in KL will the dealers here provide the same level of service?
