That's not quite true. The Wira 1.5 & 1.6 are technically very different cars. When purchasing parts, you'd be hard pressed to find common components for both cars. Between 1.5 & 1.6, especially auto to auto, my choice is definitely 1.6.

True. to add, engine totally differrent; 4G92 and 4G15. However somepart can be used in a 1.5 like spring, seat, arfilter etc...

its gotta be the absorbers that needs replacement bro!..

coz even a brand new Myvi (stock condition) is literally floating at speeds above 110kph.

if standard wira 1.6 manual, versus standard myvi 1.3 manual, the wira will surely smoke myvi.
this is my experience using wira 1.6 AT for 2 yrs.

There is no way a well maintained wira 1.6(M) in stock standard form will lose out to Myvi standard, if both drivers are pushing their car.

I had owned it since 97, 1st owner. And I speed run nkve daily.
This car had a listed 187 top speed. and very achievable 170/180 even after all these years. And @140, the 4th gear had a very good gearing for speeding. This car can surprise a lot of car on the road, especially those auto with far bigger cc (and heavier too).

I wonder if it can give vios manual a run for the money..

As a former 1.6 owner, I'll testify to that. Unfortunately, I see a lot of 1.6 out there these days not very well maintained. See also aiyoo... smile_disapprove.gif

Wira 1.5M's claimed top speed is 172kmh, but i have done 180kmh on my 175/70R13 tyres before.

Wira 1.5 & 1.6 have different engine setup, and 1.6 have a better stable system than 1.5, as can see from the ARB. Wira 1.5 does not have rear ARB, cornering still lose out to 1.6. If I am not wrong, Wira 1.6 front ARB is slightly bigger by 1mm than the 1.5 one.

Well, I can add: A well maintained 1.5 Wira can smoke a 1.3 Myvi when going through truck road. Moreover Myvi CG is higher than Wira, so they also dare not to run fast too....

I know this tread is not about 1.6 maintenance, but let me add my 2 sen if anyone really want to maintain a wira 1.6.

my last shopping list, all done in 2007. Car was 10 yrs old then, and decided to keep:

Water pump
Timing set
Valve cover gasket
Fuel filter
Monroe absorber front / rear + boot and top cover.
Rear suspension arm + link + bush
Tie rod end
rack end
rod kit
stab bush
R3 brake disc front (ori had skim 4 or 5 times, might as well get R3)
r3 front lower arm bushing
proton front lower arm bush "S"
rear r3 lower arm bushing 2 set
rear r3 trailing arm bushing
engine mount proton ori
radiator hose proton ori
pro rs brake hose kit
ebc green front
tristor advantage (was told OEM of dom advantage) rear
superpro steering bush
daikin clutch set
clutch pump

oil, coolant, fan belt, filter + plug all round.

plus lots of small little thing. As I read the receipt from ph auto now, I dunno what the old man was writing.

new tyre too. falken 912 on ori 14"

nothing modded on the engine or exhaust. my mech commented when he was working on this, had strip everything down to engine, might as well transplant a 4g93t. said he had a spare unit sitting somewhere...

other thing change was the throttle body before this big one, with new APM TB, and alternator (die short circuited by the battery contact on the car bonnet - careless)

After this big one, the car is good as new, and handle better than new!

some other item after this big one was to re-thread the gearbox drain nut plug point, was leaking, and some small fan belt bearing that rusted, and cracked radiator which I refurb.

engine drink shell helix ultra since 10k. drain every 15k, with filter every 5k.
