MR.J,
i believed u were making the statements just merely based on your own "imagination" or "assumption" but not on facts.

no offence, not trying to flame u.
Greetings Mr Andrew, Mr V n Encik Fadli,
Opps I missed that 1, yes true Honda Civic is the same C segment as BMW 3series, Citroen C4, Volvo S40.
Car price back in 1990,
Honda Accord 2.0EXi RM76k
Ford Telstar 2.0Ghia RM66k
Ford Laser 1.5 RM40k+
Volvo 240SE forgot but within RM60k-70k
Volvo 740GLE around RM90k
Pug 405 (flat dashboard) RM80k+
Honda Civic 1.5 around RM40k near RM50k
Proton Saga 1.5I RM30k+
At that time, Volvo, Citroen n Pug priced similarly as non-luxury conti from Europe whereas
Audi 100 2.0E RM110k
BMW 520i e34 12valve RM160k-170k (can't remember, but 520i '91 24valve priced at RM185k)
BMW 730i RM350k
BMW 318i RM85k
Volkswagen never heard at that time. Mostly can't survive due to ugly design. Even Audi under AutoDunia almost went bankrupt.
So u could see, Volvo is on par with Pug, priced not far away. So by today standard Volvo S60 should be around RM170k+ same category as Pug 407 & Citroen C5 with lil more expensive. Pug price only lowered after NAZA took over. S40 should be RM140k+, at RM20k more than Civic 2.0 at RM126k
Now that Volvo management set their settings closer to BMW, Volvo S60 at RM230k, that's more than half of Citroen C5. Volvo S40 2.5L when launched at RM190k but now lowered to RM169k, small car with big engine? At RM230k, I could go for BMW 3series or Merc C-Class. Ever since after Volvo S80 brought in at over RM200k in 1999, that's the last time I went to Volvo showroom. How Federal Auto survive these days?
