The dealer is located at Tangkak.
Where are you come from ?
If not, build your own wira 2.0 lah. Not really expensive mah, by 2 yr you
can cover the cost already.
if you want a reliable mechanic, I can recommend too..

The rest, like gear box, suspension will be same as Wira 1.5
For engine, do take note
1. fuel pump (this is the most expensive component, if kong, koyak lah,
your pocket)
2. leaking, either head and the valve cover side, the engine oil will flow
to the timing belt compartment, sooner or later, will cause a serious
mechanical failure if the timing belt skid
i think that's all lah...
I am in Tangkak, may be too far for you

engine have low rpm unlike petrol engine whereby the rpm is high Say 6,000rpm.
Most diesel are only around 4,500 rpm max!
There is some airport taxis converted back to private use, available around
16K RM. Toyota Crown I believe. anybody interested can make some enquiry
for u. Pm me on this.

And, feasibility of turbocharging it with a smaller turbine for improved
low-end power, and possibly better fuel economy, too?

set with a 1.5 wira set. It fit well and run untill today.
Turbo is possible since Proton did build the car named Wira Aeroback 420TD
for oversea market, basically everything same expect there is extra turbo
pump fitted.
I still can find one guy posted on Autoworld willing to let go his 420TD
for 22k.
Check it out

420TD use the same engine as local non turbo engine.
If you go to kedai potong and buy a turbo (and it turbo manifold as well)
your local diesel car will become a 420TD.
Diesel Turbo murah beb! tak sampai RM400 pun.
I have been using 420TD for 4 years and had already 1 engine change and 1
time timing belt putus and 1 time engine overheat.
But still, I love the car ..... I learned a lot and i can say that
maintaining this car is not really expensive...almost same cost as wira
1.5 .

The 420TD is different in many ways. Turbo engines need lower compression
pistons, the fuel pump is also different on top of that the 420 Td that I
have seen, the throttle cable goes to a potiential meter wherelse our NA
diesel thrOttle cable goes to the fuel pump. the 420 TD is akin to drive by
wire type of engine management!!!
4 years 1 engine change, 1 timing belt putus, 1 time engine overheat, MY
goodness I do not want that car lar...
I bought my unit secondhand in 2001 it had clocked 198,000 km. I asked the
owner whether the Timing belt change or not, He said yes, But anyway the
moment I took the car I sent it to my friend's workshop to replace ALL
BELTS, CHANGE ALL FLUIDS, ALL FILTERS, ALL BRAKE PADS, RAIDIATORS HOSES,
ALL BULBS. NEW CLUTCH SYSTEM
KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? THE TIMING BELT IN THE ENGINE WAS ALREADY CRACKED,
WAITING TO SNAP ANYTIME!!! HOW TO TRUST THE GUY WHO SOLD ME THE CAR???I
ALSO CHANGE ALL THE SUSPENSION BUSHES PLUS WHEEL BEARINGS. EVEN THE
ABSORBERS AND SPRINGS WAS NOT SPARED, BUT SINCE I WORK WITH APM MOTORSPORTS
AT THAT TIME I GOT A R&D SET FOC.
THE ODORMETER ON MY CAR IS NOW AT 470,000KM. I HAVE HAD ANOTHER 4 SETS OF
TIMING BELT CHANGE, HAD 3 SETS OF CLUTCH CHANGE. WHEN YOU OPEN THE CAM
COVERS THE ENGINE IS SO CLEAN THAT YOU CAN SEE THE METAL ON THE
ROCKERS/LIKE NEW!tHE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE AND NEED HELP ON IS THE ENGINE
VIBRATION PROBLEM. I HAVE CHANGE ALL THE ENGINE MOUNTINGS 4 TIMES ALREADY
BUT STILL THE VIBRATIONS IS THERE. THERE IS ALSO THE PROBLEM WITH THE
CLUTCH PIPING. THE VIBRATIONS CAUSES THE PIPING TO CRACK. I HAVE CHANGE THE
PIPING TO AEROQUIP HOSES SO THAT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM ANYMORE.
I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING A NISSAN FRONTIER. I KNOW THE PRICE FOR MY
PROTON DIESEL AS SUCH IS RELUCTANT TO SELL IT UNLESS SOMEONE IS WILLING TO
PAY ME A REASONABLE VALUE! CONSUMPTION WISE I STILL CAN GET OVER 100KM FOR
EVERY RM10 I FILL.
