Auto for a diesel, not recommended, diesel lacks hp, an auto will even
make it slower. Besides, auto transmission gives more problems and less
reliable than a manual one. A turbo will increase power and torque at the
expense of more diesel used. Also there will be more black smoke but less
noise due to lower compression. There was one Citroen Xantia 1.9TD engine
for sale recently, it gives 92bhp and 196Nm torque. Call Surjit at 016-221
6644 to see if its still around.

Hi johnckl,
Thanks for the info provided. The Citroen 1.9TD engine can be fitted onto
a wira model? Let's say I change the engine, will I still enjoy the 50%
discount on road tax? What's the power and performance difference between
the two engines? Boy, I am really new in this diesel world ... too many
things to pick up! johnckl, I understand you are staying in Cheras area,
where do you send your car for service and repairs? I am staying in the
Cheras area too. I sent to some mechanics, and I don't have a good feeling
for them. Sigh ...

If I am not mistaken, the auto version of the Citroen ZX 1.9D (non-turbo)
was once sold here by Directional. I think the key in matching an auto
transmission to the characteristics of a diesel engine is by getting the
torque converter stall speed and the gear & final drive ratios right.
After all, there are also auto diesel trucks & buses around.

Hi tut, not sure if the XTD engine can be shoehorned into a Wira but call
Surjit up to ask him. The XTD engine is still a green engine with Euro II
emissions, so it is still valid for the 50% discount in road tax.
Furthermore it is slightly smaller cc, 1905 compared to 2000cc of Wira.
Try to find out the bhp and torque of Wira but the XTD engine is 92bhp and
196Nm torque with intercooler, can still be tweaked to higher bhp, I heard
to 115bhp and higher torque. I found in the internet, Mitsubishi Lancer
Diesel 1998cc, normal aspirated (non-turbo), should be the same as Wira
2.0 Diesel, 68 bhp and torque 125Nm.

I send my car to Surjit in Batu Caves but he do mainly Citroen makes. See
if you can find out where those diesel 4WD send their rigs to service
around Cheras/Ampang. Alternatively find out from magazines, internet or
perhaps Yellow Pages to see if you can locate them.

Sometimes cannot sleep early, so surf until later at night before becoming
sleepy. Biasa lah macam ini.

I have been experiencing drop of power recently. After pushing for my
engine past 80km/h, the engine begins to rattle and the responsiveness
becomes lesser. I am having difficulty in pushing the car past 110km/h.
Any help on this?
Every time I accelerate (either for highway or overtaking), I notice a
significant drop in the electricity flow especially during the night. I
noticed this everytime when my headlights get dim. Hmm...
Oh yeah, I found a good and price-reasonable mechanic near Jalan Genting
Klang area. If anyone staying in the area and looking for a mechanic, let
me know.
Cheers!

Drop in electricity may mean battery weak or alternator not charging
enough. Have them checked out. Use a more powerful battery and a more
powerful alternator. Lack of power could mean many things, check your air
filter, fuel filter, renew when necessary. Could be injector fault. Check
your air hoses, there may be a leak of hot air into air intake which will
weaken the power. Could also be your fuel pump need servicing.

Thanks johnckl, I will visit my mechanic this weekend to clear things out.
I am not so worried about the electricity drop. I am more worried about
power lacking as I notice my clutch plate is not responding to my
acceleration. I have replaced an original clutch plate last weekend, and
still notice the same problem. I wonder is that the cause of the power
drop. If yes, what should I do since I just replaced one? This car is
worrying me.

Your mechanis is suspect as he can't seem to install a clutch properly.
Must be something wrong with the installation, have him redo it again.
Most probably that is the cause of the power drop as you can't engage your
clutch successfully. Its not the car that is worrying you but the
mechanic. Force your mechanic to fix the clutch until it works or ask for
a refund and go to a more reputable diesel workshop. Even after he
repaired the clutch problem, switch workshop as obviously he can't handle
your car. Sorry to say that but you got to be realistic.
