Hello guys,
Just to let you know the thrill and agony of getting the 850-T5.
Thrill, just got the car yesterday, short test drive and then passed it
to the mechanic. So cannot really elaborate yet.

Agony, well up to now, the following needs some attention.
1) Tyres all round (~$365 each)
2) The Volvo emblem cap on the rims not so good, want to change
3) Front door red side lamps x2pcs (~$90 each)
4) Roof rack TORX screw cap x2pcs
5) Rear lamps (bottom) x2pcs (~$400 each)
6) Power Transistors for the ICE head unit x2pcs (~$18 changed it myself)
7) Air Filter
8) Air Filter Box mounting latches
9) Air Ram hose to the air filter
10)Cooling hose to the ECU box
11)Some idiot lights taken off - ABS, Overdrive OFF
12)If ABS problem = $2600 (This one very hard to repair, I`ve opened one)
13)If OD OFF lamp taken out it could be due to the gear selector sensor
14)Major servicing - Timing belt, bearing, etc. Serpentine belt. Flush
autobox, brake fluid, engine and change all the fluids (~$1400)
15)If necessary, change the radiator hoses x2pcs
16)Petrol hose at fuel rail, water hose at water pump
17)Dip Stick holder broken (don`t know whether want to change or not)
18)Brake pads and disc - not checked yet
19)Rear plastic panel on the boot (below the glass) making noise
20)Front windscreen not tinted (~$500)
21)Alarm system (cheapo one ~$300)
22)Right drive shaft bellow (hope the CVJ still okay)

That`s all till now, maybe more to come ? I heard Kenari1 spent $10k when
he first took over his car. Don`t know whether it includes his paint job.
Now if I look at the above, the 10k figure is achieveable for me, even
without a re-spray. Thank God the shock absorbers are okay (computer
checked and printout) ~$40 here. If not another $3000 gone. This month my
piggy bank needs to be cracked open liao....

Basically the previous owner maintains the car but he sent it to the wrong
guys to do it. That`s why so many plastic parts broken. I was ealier
thinking of spending 2k to change the number plate. Now that plan has to
be shelved indefinitely.
Kenari1 - put me in the list for a ABS modulator (to buy in bulk).

Hi glock19,

Congratulations again on your latest purchase. That's quite a list of
things you need to take care of. I think I'm luckier. My list was not that
long but still need a bit of $$$ to rectify. On the positive side, you'll
has a car that's practically "new" once you get all the things which need
attention done. Sigh! Come 600km time, my pocket will become much lighter.

glock19,

Congratulations on the T5, welcome on board the T5 carrier, lets go for
WAR.hehehehehehehehehe just joking.

my advice:

for a second hand car, the things that u think need to be change is
endless,my still a lot on the list.

but my advice:

Change the really necessary one first, engine/performance related,
braking, driving comfort, n maybe cosmetic later.

but if money is not a problem,do one time n enjoy the rest of the day
loh..............

Hi Glock19,
By looking at your list, it really makes me scares....
As Marlin said, just change the most important first but if $$$ is not
the issue then enjoy it. I'm sure you will be satisfied...
So far, I only has changed the alarm system and bulb for the main
light... that's all and hope nothingelse la otherwise... $$$$
I'm not sure about the rest because the PA has changed my drive shaft
before I took the car... So far, I'm happy with the car but new scratches
on the lower part of the front bumper because my wife lo...&#^$#^&$###...
Anyway, I'm sure you will be happy driving the T5 as my wife
said "LAJUNYA....... " :D

Welcome to the club....

Ady...Big Smile

Hello guys,

Thanks for your advise and welcome. I just dropped by the shop just now
during lunch, saw a few items to add somemore :
1) Anti-roll bar (~$700)
2) Right cover for the towing hook (at the front bumper)
3)..??

Money is a problem but I cannot tahan having a car which is problematic,
so just do it at one go. That's why earlier I went for the 940 which is so
much lenient on the wallet. But tangan and backside itchy, what to do ? I
need a whip.... :)

Tomorrow, will take half day leave to clean up the engine interior as most
parts have been removed, so getting my hand dirty abit. I've got all the
VOLVO emblem for the centre of the rims. Since I'll be traveling on the
23rd, I would like to have a new set of tyres. Apart from COntinental,
which is quiet and good ? Like Kenari1 said, go for the 205/50/16 instead
of 55 series because the wheel is already touching the arc as it is.

After seeing this list, it made me feel better as I didn't have to change
so much after getting the car. I only had to change

1 radiator
1 headlight
A pair of brake pads
A pair of dampers
Alignment and balancing of the wheels
1 standard 10K service

whew!

which shop is this?
izzit an aftermarket ARB?

I fitted Kumho Ecsta 712s (205/50ZR16) on my (ex)T5 & thoroughly enjoyed
the quiet & grippy ride. Heard Kumhos have poor wet grip after 1/2 life,
but can't verify cos I sold the T5 5k km later.
They're very cheap - RM210pp in Klang, mebbe even cheaper.

whitenite, did you go to the shops on the way to Kapar town ? I heard the
tyres in the shops there are cheaper than other places.
