I do have a liking for volvo...though after seeing my many Volvo friends
pay a bomb to maintain their cars did affect my decision to buy another
make...and not Volvo.
If you like Volvo, be prepared to pay more to maintain it compared to
other cars. I have never heard that Volvos are cheap to maintain. Have
you?.
Imagine someone honestly saying "It's a joy to own a Volvo coz it's
soooooo cheap to maintain one!". Now...that'll be really cool to
hear.But...sigh...

I think it may be cheap for 240,740 and 940 and it will not be cheap for
FWD one. The spare parts cost already make the difference.

So, lesson learnt here is.... Buy Volvo and be prepared for $$$! :)
Do admit that driving a Volvo is so much better than a Japanese or
Proton...
Think have to save lots of $$$ to maintain this car!

Hi all,
I think the reason we should hv forum so that we can compare and find
out more. As you never know if you are being slaughtered. :)
Front disc brake cost rm650?? As i remember, the original ones is just
rm3++ per pair. But I prefer to go other brand like EBC, less brake dust
than original.
Till dated, I think I have touch the rm10k mark too. But 40% due to my
itchy ass, 30% normally wear n tear and another 20% being slaughtered.
Please join the forum more so that we could share our experience and find
out any other alternative too.

My opinion is that as long as you buy 2nd hand, you have already save $$.
I take myself as a example.
Paid RM55k for 850GLE compare with 100k for perdana. The interest saving
(i.e 4%) of 45k price difference (around RM1800 per year) already enough to
cover most of the repair and maintenance cost.
The choice is yours...850 or Perdana?
...quality - 850
...brand/Image - 850
...ride& drive - 850
...power - 850
...cost of parts - ???
...Running cost - i think almost the same
Overall -850 unless you die die want a new car.
I have a friend whose perdana experience a gear box breakdown for 2 time in
4 year. He is using the third set now.

gfc,
I do agree on most of your feedback... but i'm not too sure about
ride/handling as compared to Perdana V6.
I think both are on par. V6 has it's own characteristics as well as 850.
One is more sporty whist the other is more on comfort.
But I do agree that if you were to owned a used 850, it would be more
cost efficient on a new Perdana.

Hi bro`s,
I bring a posting from Beemer as follows :
-------------------------
The Oil service average RM1200 (with some parts replacement), AirCond
Coil RM3600.00) and Power Stering Pump (approx.RM1500). The termostat
problem approx. RM260). Towing aroung Klang Valey average RM120.00.
The parts are not that expensive compared to merc and volvo...however,I
still find it cheaper to keep the car rather than to buy a brand new one.
---------------------------
Thats for E39 engine (BMW 520), any comment ???????

Keccek & City Maniac
i think is possible to get Rm 3++ of the Rotor Disk/ Brake Disk as i
brought my a pair of Bonsh brand Rotor Disk with Rm 435 from
Carasia that i think still can get lower price as Carasia price is not the
lower in the market.
