Pin, you are welcome to joint us here, do also joint us for T.T if there
is one. I just want to add some on the type of engine oil use, since yours
a Turbo version, try use synthetic base oil becuase it can withstand heat
better while cooling off your turbine.

Cap48,
So I guess I won't be seing you this weekend ?

SA6,
I was advised by my mechanic not to use fully synthetic. A semi-syn will
do or else the tappet noise could be louder because the fully-syn could
be too thin. Scheduled change - every 5000km along with filter.

glock19, yes your are right about tappet noise while using thin oil. Check
the vescosity of the engine oil, for example if it is 10W40 than it may be
too thin for older car. Not necessary mean fully synthetic are thin and
semi synthetic are thicker Big Smile

ok SA6 I will look out for any events as I will also need to be validated..

before I get lost with you techies, any idea what does FA or Volvo
themselves advise for oil change and frequency?

What I have heard is the use of 15W-40 oil change every 5000-8000Km if
severe driving (that includes high speed and excessive idling) and >10,000
only if using synthetic or synthetic blend oil but at your own risk! So I
was thinking of sticking with changing every 10,000 using synthetic...

Have you guys also heard of something called a flame trap ? any experience
or information on that?

will be toiling the highway up and down this week end so will monitor fuel
consumption again but I think the consensus is 9.5 Km per litre so far ..
Question

ok cheers guys
