don't be confused with the steering column lock.
most LOCKTECH also secured by screw attached on the steering column
(hidden) unless there is no space available around the steering column,
then we make LOCKTECH screw attached at the bottom side (e.g. CRV I-Vtec)
remarks: once a LOCKTECH remains as LOCKed position, the screws can not
be opened by any wrenches. this has been a successful way to extend the
time much much longer if a car thief tries to remove it.

If the current one that just lock "Brake pedal", I do not think it is a
good deterent. Can still drive using handbrake which is pretty easy to do
other than the nuisance without brake pedal.

Will LOCKTECH sacrifice the safety of the collapsable brake pedal

Nowadays, the new cars contains a collapsable brake pedal designed to
reduce injury at the ankle to the knee level.

Will LOCKTECH compromise this?

honestly informed that the Locktech's structure/design does not increase
injury during crash from frontal impact instead its design allows
steering column to collapse in case of accident as mentioned besides the
package. Normally, when the car got accident from frontal crash, the
steering column will collapse for protecting the driver gets injured
directly from steel of steering column. Therefore, Locktech's design will
not be against the natural of frontal design of each car.

jaycee brought up a very good point that I actually wanted to ask as well.

vuuse I am guessing that you are somehow affiliated with the locktech
system... I saw something very similar at GSM in PJ... can't remember
right now if it is locktech or not....I am guessing it is.

You said it does not.... can you post some proof to back up your
statements? I am seriously interested in one but am somewhat reluctant
due to the danger it may pose during a crash... as I understand this
thing is permanently fixed.... lets not kid ourselves that our chances of
injury at knee and shin area is not it increased should we come into
impact with this device.


Personally am somewhat sceptical about such devices, no doubt it prevents
the car from being stolen....maybe.... but it does not show any real
deterrant against the car being broken into... someone starts to tamper
with your dash area and you be wishing the thief did take the car.

Mind you interior parts on any car is not cheap.

i don't see the explaination from vuuse make a point when it comes to
locktech maintaining the original design of the collapsible steering
column...i have one installed in my vehicle back in 2003. It locked both
the clutch and brake pedals...security wise is very good...no doubt about
it..i even use another padlock and autolock to deter thief away...well at
least they would choose other car instead of mine

as far as engineering design for the collapsible steering column is
concerned, i don't see how the locktech can integrate itself to the
steering column and maintained its collapsible features. In fact the
steering column ability to collapse in frontal collision might be decreased
to some significant amount due to the high rigidity of the locktech.

anyway any supporting documents which is approved by regulated bodies is a
must for such claim to be valid.
