I currently am having a serious problem with my Avantgarde 5. About a
month ago, the siren sometime work, sometime does not. Its like it has a
mind of its own. Sent it for repairs and to my surprise, was told that it
has something to do with the backup battery malfunctioning. Had it
repaired (don't know if the battery was replaced) and it went bonkers
again a week later. When i sent it for repairs for the first time, I was
told that Clifford does not provide warranty for siren. This is indeed
surprising. It appears that the distributor only provides warranty for the
AG5 modules but not the siren. What good would an alarm system be without
its siren? Anyway, it is back in the shop again and let's see what is
going to happen. Just thought I share this problem with you guys. Feel
free to comment.

Tohsan, AG5 is pricey, expect to pay between 4.5 to 5k for it. There is no
serious problem with the alarm module itself, in fact it is one of the
best investment I`d made for my vehicle. I`m a firm believer in Clifford,
having used the Concept 200, 750, Arrow 3 and the standalone Blackjax. The
system really work great and very much durable for daily use. As for using
another siren, that is not possible. You see, the siren is controlled by
the AG5 control module, not the other way around. If I am to use another
brand, then the siren won`t work. As with policy in this forum, i can`t
post the pohone number of the shop. Check your mail This guy is Clifford`s
top retailer and very competent. Cheers

Thanks for the swift reply.I am using Clifford Blackjax 4 together with
Boomerang A2002 work perfectly well, all i can is a fantastic system and
very intelligent immo. Actually I already expected the cost to be around
5K, i browse thru all the features they are a complete system and just what
i am looking for. Actually this amount is a small investment considering
the total value of the car already exceed 100k for my dad civic. I might
upgrade my Kenari with this AG5.
Just want to check with you, is the siren problem a frequent problem of AG5?

My installer (the guy i gave you the number) has never heard of it. In
fact, the distributor has also never heaerd of it. I think this is the
first time (correct me if I am wrong). Anyway, my installer's car is also
outfitted with AG5 and he has never had any problem with the siren (been
in his car since AG5 was first introduced and he did not have any problem.
Am still waiting for the response from the distributor.

Considering installing Blackjax 4 immo.

Was it difficult to get used to having to key in the code every time you
get in the car? Has it ever malfunctioned on you? How long did it take to
install? Would you buy it again?

Thanks,
alex

system, simple and easy to deactivate. So far, no incident of malfunctioned
at all even with my previous car although different bran. The installer
take up around 2 hours plus to install.

what happens when you forget to key in code after getting into the car?
If the engine cuts of suddenly, wouldn't it be dangerous?

Then again I suppose you only need it to happen once to you and you'd
remember to do the code in double quick time!
