spring conversion for a series 3 88 SWB pick-up land rover...recently seen
one done up nicely for offroad...with nice approach and departure
angle.....but his welding is a bit crappy.....I don't think the welding can
stand offroad abuse.....
also thought of changing the original gearbox and transfer case to the
defender gearbox and transfer case....I found on the net that it can be
done but the entire drivetrain is moved forward...so it will create so miss
alignment.....front shaft move 12" forward.....rear shaft shorten by
4"....and plenty of other stuff to worry about....so the guys who did their
conversion advise not to do it...better get a defender 90 instead....
so decided not to go ahead.....probably a classic land rover should remain

Just curious how much does it cost for a set of axles these days?
What i would do is upgrade the front to LCII axles with 3 links coils and
retain the rear with leaf spring to maintain my flex. LCII links very the

From Leaf sprring to Coil.
Change Axle, brake, and of course spring.
It is a lenghty job and consume time.
Now my pajero is still at the mechanic place.
