I have seen my brother did it on a rocky. A lot of people had done it on
their jeep and FJ40 using landcruiser axle.

In Sg Buloh. You can follow the Cherokee pulley tread.

tsleong...started this thread because I thought of doing a leaf to coil
spring conversion for a series 3 88 SWB pick-up land rover...recently seen
one done up nicely for offroad...with nice approach and departure
angle.....but his welding is a bit crappy.....I don't think the welding can
stand offroad abuse.....

also thought of changing the original gearbox and transfer case to the
defender gearbox and transfer case....I found on the net that it can be
done but the entire drivetrain is moved forward...so it will create so miss
alignment.....front shaft move 12" forward.....rear shaft shorten by
4"....and plenty of other stuff to worry about....so the guys who did their
conversion advise not to do it...better get a defender 90 instead....

so decided not to go ahead.....probably a classic land rover should remain
classic.....hehehe....

Why does everyone want to convert this and that?
I can never understand, why ppl buy a Series III and drop in LC gears.
Or why ppl buy a Jeep Wrangler and drop in LC Gears.....

I think it's so much easier and safer to just upgrade to a different car
asa whole,.
Just my 2 cents.
Unless u're going for competion and willing to spend on the mods and
maintenace that's a whole different thing.

Btw the workshop in Sg Buloh,
have they done plenty of LCII axle conversion for Rockys?
Just curious how much does it cost for a set of axles these days?

What i would do is upgrade the front to LCII axles with 3 links coils and
retain the rear with leaf spring to maintain my flex. LCII links very the
short.

babygod.....maybe because they are bored in the office?...like me...hehehe...
series 3 cheap to buy mah....no money to buy jap 4x4 to play with......

when you say upgrade front to LCII axle...you are referring to series 3 or
Rocky?....

Reffering to the Rocky.
Coz i'm tempted 1 day to swap axle on my Rocky.
Or run Portals...

My pajero is undergoing the conversion for the rear suspension.

From Leaf sprring to Coil.

Change Axle, brake, and of course spring.

It is a lenghty job and consume time.

Now my pajero is still at the mechanic place.
