hey phibes..
i swore off proton a long time ago. nothing to do with being anti establishment at all. its purely
value for money..like u said. and i would never pay for a new car, knowing what i know, how
much the car, if its imported actually costs, from its country of origin. and until the day comes
when we pay untaxed and import duty-free cars, it will have to be a secondhand car.
and dude, have u debadged ur golf yet?

Yeap.. well not the VW logo's but the Golf CL is off (really it is not a
"Comfort Line" any more, with the Eibach's ;-)
yea agree with you totally about new cars, just no point to pay 30% premium
for a new car smell, other will say well Warrently Lah ..etc.. I say good
you spend the time running to the dealer to do warrently stuff.. and when
your all finished and all the bugs are worked out.. I'll buy your car ;-)
I also read a magazine not too long ago that showed depreciation on
supercars.. what a joke.. if you bought a old lamborgini Countach today for
about RM 250,000 the previous owners would have paid over RM 20,000 per
month depreciation value since the time it was originally purchased.. now
you gotta figure.. if the car is still maintained and in pretty good
condition (like all these rich owners would keep them as) .. what a steal!
well until the next major repair that is ;-) Same for Ferrari.
Peace

i was in japan and guess how much the nissan cube costs there? about rm30000. i pass jln
maarof in bangsar everyday and there's a impul car showroom with the cube. and sticker price is
like rm110,000. go figure! same with almost all other makes. we here in malaysia are paying
almost FOUR times the price.
i noticed a very interesting phenomenon in japan regarding car colours. they're almost always
either white black or some ohter neutral grey colour. was told that people there dont like to
stand out from the crowd.
hehe...cant imagine that happening here in kl, especially with the 'ah beng' crowd.
u got a nice ride dude...get rid of the chrome man..!

Yes, I guess Malaysia and Malaysians for that matter are in a bit of a
unique spot when it comes to cars; *ommitted*
Ya for a westerner, Japan is a pretty freaky looking place.. they seem to
love to be dominoes, but there are many subcultures that flourish in Japan
that really buck the status quo, and their underground car scene is one of
them..
Yes I have a whole design concept laid out in my mind for the Golf.. shaved
handles and smoothed hatch, fender grill, raised hood scoop, debagged,
black and blue sinister and powerful, .. but it's going to take time.. I
hope we'll be still here shooting the breeze through the process.
Peace
