Funny enuff u mentioned that.. coz I tot the Campro engine, with it's long
snakelike intake tracts, was geared for torque and smoothness, not top end
power! But I do agree with you.. my fren who bought one gold colour gen2
recently have to be content with water ingress into the lamps, loose
panels, scratches, bumpers that come off the clips etc etc.

The repair list for my previous C3:
1) Driver`s side power window(failed twice)
2) The central locking unit(all the doors)
3) The boot locking system(that was funny, the boot refused to open when I
reached IMIGRESEN JOHOR, I had to open the speaker hole to take my cloth.)
4) Drive shaft.
5) Absorbers.
6) Air cond pressure switch.
7) Wheel Bearing.
8) Clutch pump for manual transmission(also very funny, I had to turn off
the engine to shift the gear during the journey at Kuantan)
Thanks to the previous owner, I had to DIY myself about once a month to
fixed the accessories.

The repair list of my current C4:
1) Throttle valve switch(replaced)
2) Ball joint(very soon in the future)
3) Tie-rod(future)

That`s all for now.

Hey Jake,

Just a quick note that the current crop of Gen2s do not have the CamPro
technology. They are your basic, run of the mill, straight up DOHC 16
valver, with no variable valve timing or lift.

Noted that the next "upgrade" will have the "fabled" CamPro technology.
Wow, talk about rip-offs. For the sake of rolling out a delayed car, slap
on an engine that is not as promised...Tongue

the gen 2 is a high rev car. that means you have to constantly change gear
and keep the rev up in order to drive it fast.

this apparently was the response from the motorsport division of proton.

twinpipes,

yeah.. I was told that too. only above 4000 rpm does it actually have its
torque available. But you don't normally drive at such high rpm right?

just it is weird to call the engine a campro when there's no cam profiling
in it.

So they say.. I didn't notice.. but then again most 4 cylinder engins peak
around 3500 - 4500 so this is not anything special to say "power over 4000
RPM" .. anyhow.. even if it had more power.. the car itself is so horrible
that it wouldn't make much of a difference, IMHO.

Peace

Hi everyone,

On this subject of Gen 2. I was on my way back from Singapore, a new
Gen-2 overtook me with still the blue plate for delivery while at 110
km/h. So decide to see how far it can go as the car zoom by very fast.

It went all the way to 180 km/h, of course overtook it at 190 km/h
onwards with the Vento. I pity the new owner that will recieve the new
car. On the other hand, we can rest assure Proton will thru break-in your
car upon delivery.....hehehe..

Regards

Hehehe ! Just got a brand new Audi A2 1.4L yesterday ... alot of
electronics. Nice meter lightings with Red lightings. But abit tall in
heights, quiet engine but lack of trunk space ! Good power though even
with small cc.
