Richard,
so easy one , go to workshop check it lor. if rosak just change it . by the way did u check ur engine oil enough or not ? i don think that proton car got limit high rev kick . the limit already show at RPM meter on ur dash broad , the red colour means the limit.

check the spec of the car if the power peaks at less than 7000rpm its very useless to rev it higher than the peak point

Ive got a satria 1.6 M and i hit the limiter at about 6750RPM
What year is your wira?
Different ECUs have different limits?

proton REV limit not come from the ecu but the cam itself!!!
proton ecu never cut it rev limit. they let u go on until u feel the car
like shaking.....because i try on my auto b4, 1.6 (a) 2nd gear at 120km/j
about 7000rpm... but it still can go if u dare to.:)
if wanan rev more then that change high can that give u 10 000
then u can rev till 9000 ....syok

The ECU is responsible for rev limits, in Proton or other makes of cars.
The cam does not limit the revs, its fuction is only to open and shut the
valves at the correct timing.
ECU's does rev limiting by 2 ways, fuel cut or ignition cut. The stock
4G92P is rev limited to around 6750rpm.

7000rpm?..i tot 1.6 redline's at 6.8k
hmm..surprisingly u didn't hit the rev cut..
anyway...u probably..over-revved ur engine...as that's already the redline
and that'll definitely damaged ur engine...
well..dunno bout u..bout many ppl dun really understand about the car's
powerband...for a 4G92 SOHC...the max torque's probably at 3-4k and the
max hp should be at 6k..so anythin' beyond 6k rpm ...the car shouldn't be
any more powerful..so there's no point for draggin' till that high rpm?...
