I am a previous owner of Scenic. Good car but some how, reliability is
always an issue for the 7 years of ownership from blown ECU, gearbox,
starter, drive shaft not forgetting the spare parts cost. Imagine, if you
were to have a breakdown somewhere and no one knows how to repair it. The
repair cost can really shrink your bank account. There goes your
travelling mood where ever you are heading to.

If you can live with it, then go ahead. So far, all the previous Renault
owners that I got to know for the past 7 years, 80% did not go for Renault
when they decided to change cars.

Just my 2 cent worth of advice.

Just spoke to one renault salesman at sec 14, PJ. I asked him about the
auto-trans for scenic but he mentioned that the problem only for first
model to malaysia which is, they brought euro version here. From 2000
onwards, the issue had been solved as they make some changes to suit asian
weather... donno whether it's true or not.. someone here care to answer it
for me, please...

anybody care to provide update on their megane scenic (the model circa
1997-1998).

i'm interested to get the car used but have some reservation on its
reliability.

what should i checked and paid attention for if inspecting or test drive
one?

i read some comments on the auto gearbox. is the 1997-1998 version megane
scenic a lemon?

very comfortable car at great value.. now you can get yr 2000 model for
rm30+k..
try to get one that has all service records so that u'll know more or less
on the car history and its maintenance. That will give you some idea on
the car's condition.. & you should follow the manufacturer's preventive
mtce schedule.
