acc belt, gearbox oil, coolant flush, brake fluid and other small things
will set you back no less than 1k. if they snag your water pump add
another rm400+ (they normally recommend to change together with timing
belt due to access), brake pads around rm200 each front/rear pair. that
is excluding other defects if any. or senang kira spare abt 2k no less.

what is your general comment about the car , FC , maintenance cost and
other related performance . I can consider new when it comes to Conti.
Car; thinking of switching camp after my dreadful experience with locally
manufactured car. My next choice wud be Japanese car HONDA Jazz most
likely , but I have been longing to own Scenic since my student days. My
only concern is whether this car is expensive to maintain and spares
availability . Any comments is very much welcome.

I am looking at one too and found one recently - year 99 with milleage
around 90k and selling at 60k (negotiable). The condition is quite good.
Well, I am facing the same probs as mentioned, worried about the high
price maintainance & spare parts, unavailable of good mechanics, etc. I
had drove audi a6 and alfa twins park b4 and I must said the conti did
gave me lots of nightmare which I end up spend a lot of money & fed up
with all the mechanics.
So, for current scenic users, do advise us and I will appreciate if you
could give more feedbacks. TQ
Anyway, where is this model came from ah? (Sorry for this stupid question
cause really idiot about renault)

to me its a nice car particularly in ride and comfort. especially on long
journey you will feel it most. not really a town car maybe due its size.
i wud say a kancil/kenari a better bet if you do a lot of start/stop
short distance in jam packed area. handling and steering not bad for car
in that size and shape. FC urban abt 8.5 - 9.5 l/100km. hiway 7.5 - 7.9
l/100km anyway much depending on yr right foot.
std servicing cost is actually comparable to other conti. in fact i
notice at tan chong, nissan servicing package pricing abt same for any
renault. its the spareparts price that i found a bit expnsive at tanchong.
like i mentioned in other thread, it can drive you mad at times. outside
not many shop selling renault parts. compared to citroen/pug its twice as
hard to find renault parts.like rijoda in puchong you can get some parts
(new/potong)at cheaper price. singapore also another source for parts.
headache? well it come as std package with any car you own i guess heheh.
of 8 cars i've owned previously and currently (local/jap/conti/classic
included) none has given me no headache. though i must say this one can
give slightly higher dose if you are not careful.
