you sound like u know a thing or two about this 'passive rear wheel steering'

perhaps you could conduct some 'passive rear wheel steering' clinic for the rest of us!!!

Vonnig,

Don't worry....Generally no car is designed so as to give complication to the drivers....the reason the passive rear steering is designed is merely to improve handling.......and i'm sure any neutral decent driver shall be able to control it after a few trial....otherwise i have to say that the passive rear steering design is damn user not-friendly if one has to take such effort to get use to it. What do u think?

Cheers

The passive rear wheel steer is a double edged sword.
While it endows the ZX with remarkable agility, it also gives an unnerving sensation if you push too hard. Sometimes you feel like you've overcooked it, but the car actually has ample grip. I've cornered my zx at 11/10ths..trust me..when it runs out of grip..it really lets go, and hangs you out to dry!

You're right katmai, i don't think extracting maximum performance from a ZX requires extraordinary amount of skill. Any decent test driver would be more than capable, what more a driver with racing experience?

In fact, if anything, getting the most out of a BMW should be even more challenging..RWD cars always require greater skill.

oh yeah... of course there'll be plenty of practice runs and getting used to it first... again a front wheel drive car and a rear wheel drive car feel is also different ler... but then that's easier to figure ler... for me it took a bit of getting used to the rear swinging out a bit... it is esp so when you are using soft absorbers... gets a bit unnerving... but it's wonderful with the correct suspension setup... so in a way you have to learn to use it to your advantage...

well.. this for sure i can say... a lot of ppl either love that feel or totally hate that feel... i've gone thru a lot of magazines reviewing the ZX from way back and some have enjoyed it.... others have criticised it for being so loose in the rear... but then they only drove it on one occasion and not on a regular basis... for the long term test done by one magazine... there were no complains by the reviewers about the car except that the aircond vent in the centre broke... otherwise the car was a dream... this was a test done over a year...

Hi guys,
so jadi ke 29th June ni.
Talked with Jep Gervasi Auto,
He said no problem utk jadi driver.
Katanya, kalu ZX2.0 vs 318(standard car), boleh gagah lagi ZX.
Kalu buat ujian masa lagi bagus.
but make sure track dia penuh ngan "liku2".
problem dia, nak pakai kete sapa.
Pug Mi16 dia ada la.

Guys,

If you follow the thread on the BM forum, I was offered by beemer328 to pit my ZX against a 94 e36 318 with std specs on a slalom challenge, which I accepted.

Why June 29th ? Someone is trying to organise a BMW Advanced Driving Course for us at Sepang. (check out www.bmwclub.com.my)

I am still waiting for the rest of the details regarding the slalom challenge from beemer328.

Guys, if you are looking for a neutral driver, I do have someone who used to run the Shell Rallies overseas. He used to drive a Celica GT4 in those races, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe I can talk him into it, if you guys agree with it. Far as I know, he's a freak when it comes to conti cars. Well??
